Today, well yesterday I guess considering the time....... was freakin' awesome!
It started with a 4:30 am wake up call to pile our asses into Rory's car and drive up to Cleveland to pick Nessa up from the airport...nothing unusual about that until we get there...
So our wait at the airport was nothing but Dead Hedwig jokes and me in a very slap happy state rolling on the floor. Here's a video of some of our randomness. Warning, we're very tired and the video contains spoilers for those of you who have not read the first 5 chapters or so of Deathly Hallows:
We come back to the House of Awesome and crash until noon...Rory and I head out to pick up her paycheck and go to Best Buy to buy a wireless router... We're taking it to Prophecy and I'm gonna use it in the house at Woo anyways. Then it's back to the house to pick up the crew and head out to Columbus. Here's where the fun starts...
We got a flat tire, unfortunately we didn't think to take pictures to document the fun until after we were on the road again. What a great way to welcome Nessa to America... By getting a flat tire on the way to her surprise first wizard rock concert ever! We change the tire with the help of a nice passing stranger in a VW Bug...he was kinda cute too *wink* We trade vehicles in Mansfield and finally make our way to Columbus. Fortunately the concert was running late so we didn't miss Whompy's set.
We get there and almost immediately find Brian inside, Rory and Camie get their hugs and then I approach him. "Hey Brian, I owe you a bone crushing hug from Ashe from wizardrock.org..." so the hugging begins. He wouldn't let go taunting me "You're not crushing me... Come on I know you have it in you!" and so on. He had already had a few drinks at that point...
Again Whompy was the first to play... During the chorus to "I Killed My Owl" I whipped out my owl puppet and recorded his reaction to it. We were right down front and he could see it very easily... During the Owl solo Beth took over and had the owl headbanging to the crowd. Once the audience saw what it was they let out a rather loud scream. In the words of my mother.... "Who knew a 30 something year old hand crocheted puppet would be resurrected......only to be the butt of dead Hedwig jokes!"
Draco and the Malfoys were next. We had a blast there's no denying that. So what if they were a little on the drunk side, we had fun dammit! I've got a few videos from their performance and a butt load of photos.
Harry and the Potters played last and by the time they played I had nearly lost my voice and was hot and tired. I managed to scream along to my favorites though and snapped some more photos.
Afterwords we ran around the bar dancing like loons taking pictures and getting multiple Wizard Rock hugs. I had so much fun... And as we were saying our final goodbyes to the boys, as Brian had me trapped in another "bone crushing" hug he said to me, "Don't worry, we'll see each other again in 6 days..."
HOLY CRAP PROPHECY!!!!! This summer has just been awesome! Starting my podcast has to be one of the best things I have ever done. I have been able to talk to and meet so many awesome and talented people because of it and I am having so much fun... Thank you J.K. Rowling. Your books have been a huge part of my life and I could never thank you enough. They kept me up when I was down, and because of them I have met so many amazing people and made some life long friends. Thank you.
