I'm addicted to placebos. I'd give them up, but it wouldn't make any difference.

If you have dangermousie friended I'm sure you've seen her posts on The Myth, and now I have to add my voice because it's GREAT.

It's about a modern guy who falls flat on his face into the Qin dynasty (2000 years ago), and even though I'm sure there will be horrible angst later, right now it's just funny and goofy and perfect. The hero isn't what I'd call ( Read more... )

pretty people in implausible situations, this can only end in tears, the myth

Normally I LOVE time travel and fish out of water stories (bonus points if a story manages to be both!) but because I know fuck all about the Qin Dynasty and not much more about modern day chinese life, I feel like I wont be able to appreciate this all that much ie lots of humor and references will be wasted on me. It sounds fascinating though so who knows maybe I'll check it out lol. Not any time soon however since I recently got a new game *___* in fact, funny coincidence it's called Jade Empire and borrows alot from Wuxia films and the like. Thank you bioware, I always WANTED to be a wuxia/kung fu heroine!

Oh, don't let that stop you! I don't know anything about Chinese history either, but the hero explains all. And most of the humor comes from his modern slang and observations while everyone around him is like "???" XD I mean, he watches kung-fu warriors and compares them to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. He's great.

Awww that does make it tempting. and I clicked the link you had embedded, I was giggling the whole time XD Well guess I will watch it anyway, at least until it gets boring. Say, how long is it anyway? (if it's over 25 eps...)

50.

But they're only forty minutes each! That works out to only a slightly-longer-than-average-kdrama!

Now see if it had been fifty 25 minute episodes, then it'd still be on the list sisterjune June 22 2010, 21:29:35 UTC
FIFTY EPISODES? o_o

I mean, at 40 mins I'd have watched up to 30 episodes maybe even a little over that but...FIFTY? girl I cant imagine anything so compelling that it'd hold my interest that long. and No one needs fifty episodes at forty mins each in succession to tell a story! (i mean if it was broken up into two stand alone seasons that'd be different) That's alot of unnecessary conversations and scenes! and man it sounded so interesting too D: (but I feel silly starting something that I know, I KNOW I wont finish. Cause I know myself and I mean man I look back at all my favorite tv series of the past and they are almost always on the shorter/more compact side, sometimes painfully so)

Have you been keeping up with True Blood? It started off with quite a bang :D

SO WATCH UNTIL EP THIRTY! Come on, you're not even giving it a chaaaaance. If it starts dragging, you can always skip around until the good stuff, it's not like the drama police will come banging on your door because you dared to ff.

(Did I mention the hero grows out his hair and learns martial arts? And that there's a fun scheming dancer girl who briefly crossdresses to sell her own marriageability? She goes in a pub like "sup fellas, have you heard about the hot new sisters in town" and she convinces them to flock to the market on the day she and her sister just HAPPEN to doll up and breeze across the road looking like a million bucks, the guys all drooling. IT'S AWESOME AND HILARIOUS.)
