If you're gay you walk around giving butt bumps to everyone. It's like a high five, only a low two.

sodahands, scanky_chops, you have to watch Cinderella Unni! It's basically a grittier version of Massugu na Otoko, with a rebellious girl and a sweet guy and tons of chemistry. I'm not completely sold yet (whenever it has a screechy Korean melodrama moment I can't help but think of Massugu's more subtle approach to the heroine's problems, plus it doesn't have SATO ( Read more... )

i like girls, life consumed by tv, a tale of two sisters, sato ryuta is my constant, fantastic elastic ring ding dong yi, save me from myself

Dong-yi doesn't end in tears! HISTORY SAID SO. Scroll down to where it says 'Choi sookbin'. She survived and everything! (And her son ruled Korea! Granted he was sensitive about the whole half-slave thing, but the point is, there are no dramatic blossoms of blood across your screen as you weep about the 50+ hours you spent watching pretty people angst.) (Err, the first 4 eps are pretty brutal, though. I can't even begin to recap ep3 without weeping in anticipation.)

And lol, Cinderella Unni prompted me into writing femslash based almost entirely on my ridic hate for Seo Woo's face.

How are you finding the trendy/fluff dramas? (Oh My Lady, Personal Taste, Prosecutor Princess, etc.)

You hate Seo Woo? YOU'RE FIRED.

Err, the first 4 eps are pretty brutal, though. I can't even begin to recap ep3 without weeping in anticipation.

OH JESUS WHY DID YOU TELL ME THIS NOW I WANT IT EVEN MORE AM TREMBLING IN ANTICIPATION.

I haven't seen anything yet but Dong Yi and Cinderella Unni. Have you? What's the verdict?

BUT HER FACE IS SO ABNORMAL, DON'T MAKE ME WATCH HERRRR I CAN'T DO EEEEET. (Really, I have nothing against her, it's just her face.)

There's this one scene where she's begging Ki-hoon to do something, and it's supposed to be cute and scrunchy like teenaged girl's puppy face but her face doesn't move in the same way Nicole Kidman's is frozen into immobility. *shudder*

Dong-yi does the classic kdrama sageuk thing where the hero/heroine has to walk through a valley of angst and dead relatives before establishing themselves in a lifelong mission of finding out why. So, the bloodshed is expected? *passes you tissue in anticipation*

Quality-wise, DY and CU are the best. Personal Taste is cute, but it's too early to tell, nothing has happened just yet. Prosecutor and Oh My Lady lag a little in maturity but let's face it, I am not watching for the depth. Oh My Lady is the most fun, so I'll probably stick with this one and come back to the others.

I... I WANT TO SAY YOU'RE BEING BLASPHEMOUS BUT I KINDA UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN. She was so impressive as the teenage runaway in Paju, it was weird and unsettling to see her playing CUTE! like every other kdrama actresses ever. I don't think her face was meant for it.

Dong Yi sounds like barrels of fun. Why am I not scared off? Oh right, because kdramas have conditioned to expect the worst. Have you heard about that weekend family drama where the PD decided at the last minute to KILL OFF THE OTP IN A CAR WRECK? Who does that??? Oh right, KOREA.

Prosecutor and Oh My Lady lag a little in maturity but let's face it, I am not watching for the depth.

THIS IS TRUE FOR ME AS WELL. I'm a little worried the concept behind Personal Taste will turn me off despite any cuteness, but I guess I won't know for sure until I try. Oh My Lady had a fun preview so I'm expecting awesome. ♥

OML is really really cute and hilarious and pokes fun at itself and the hero it a total male bimbo and heroine kicks him in the shins when he misbehaves and he spends half the drama topless and there are cute kids and basically it's super-adorableness.

Prosecutor Princess - I really like. IRIS lady is super-smart but totally shallow and loves her outfits but totally aces her stuff and is all uncaring about people (she goes for some tough sentence and is all 'why should I consider his circumstances') and does her own thing. Park Shi Hoo is all hot and mysterious and super-buff shirtless guy from Chuno is an awesome hot widower who I can tell will hook up with other lady prosecutor.

Also, someone stole all my commas.

DY: Once you get past the massive cast-wide dying, there's Han Hyo-joo playing investigator and being good at music and maintaining one of the sunniest smiles in Korea while alternately slogging through complicated government conspiracies and doing drudge work; Bae Soo-bin, I need not add, is hot and angsty at all times. Plus the king is some sort of inner-woobie who covers up by being a playboy (he has his own harem, and half the court politics circle around that. Could you imagine the minister of the right actually having to publicly object to the king's concubine? How would that even come across?
