(no subject)
First: the word "leitmotiv" was playing in my head this afternoon and I realized I had no idea what it meant, except that it was vaguely german-ish and related to art somehow. So I looked it up in the OED with the following result: "In the musical drama of Wagner and his imitators, a theme associated throughout the work with a particular person, situation, or sentiment."
Second: today I recieved a postcard from Marjorie, from Paris. It made me wildy happy and once again pledge to write to her, or at the very least take the letter I wrote two weeks ago to the post office.
Third: It is very possible that Delirium from Sandman is my patron Endless. Quite likely, in fact. And as the semester progresses and I get more and more out of it, and more and more prone to wandering around in a breezy way singing off-key little tunes about the actions I'm perfoming at any given moment, the possibility grows stronger. if anyone happens to have a Delirium icon, from Brief Lives, Kindly Ones, or the Destruction story in Endless nights, could you please pass it my way?
Fourth: I am avoiding doing homework by writing this entry. I have been avoiding doing homework for too long. Alas.
Fifth: I would like very much to curl up into a little ball made entirely of sleep and have no responsibilities at all. It would be nice, yes?
Sixth: My friend Ben's birthday was the day before yesterday and sparked much emailage among Ben's circle of friends from high school. I have yet to join the conversation but have been enjoying it immensely.
