Someone I thought I knew once told me that only humans can defeat monsters.  That was a long time ago.  In the book, Frankenstein's monster killed himself after hurting the human who made him, killing his friends and family, framing someone else for it.  The monster's mate gets torn to pieces.

Nobody defeats anybody in that story.  Or maybe everyone's defeated.  I guess it's the same thing.

Anyway, I think the difference between monsters and people is that you don't care nearly enough about monsters to be hurt by them as you can with people.  Monsters can't betray your trust, 'cause you'd never give your trust to them in the first place.  You can't love a monster, and you can't hate one either.  They're just things that you run from or you kill and life's so simple then.
