Hi!
So, I thought I'd start a discussion on book Rahl vs. tv show Rahl. I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts.
Personally, I love both for different reasons. TV show Rahl is gorgeous. He's evil in a charismatic way. He's not so evil, though, that I feel guilty crushing on him. :) He truly believes he's doing right, and he does have limits to how far he'll go. I believe that he really loves Kahlan. In season 2, he's a bit more evil now that he's dead. I wish we could see more of him. He's still seductive, though. Although he's helping the Keeper to destroy all life, he's also giving people who have died a chance to live.
I love book Rahl because he's so over the top evil. He's a great villain. He's brilliant and manages to plan things so no matter what choices are made, they work to his advantage. He convinces many people to side with him, even Richard's brother. He only loses because of Richard's love for Kahlan, not something he could have known was a possibility. I can't bring myself to be attracted to him quite, though he's described as beautiful. He's just too cruel. The things he does in the book- specifically the stuff to children- are just too much for me to consider him appealing. Still, he's a great villain.
