I said goodbye to my best friend tonight.
My best friend Allison passed away unexpectedly last week. I went to her visiting hours tonight and said goodbye. She is going to be cremated. So this is the last time I will see her.
She was like a sister to me and, I miss her terribly. She used to come visit me often on Sunday evenings and last night I found myself listening for her footsteps in the hall and her knock on the door.
I know that it will get better. At my age I have lost so many, my parents, cousins, a sibling, friends. I know the pain will ease in time, but for now I am hurting.
Goodbye my friend, I will miss our good times and our bad times, our spats and our makeups. I will cherish the memories of all we have done and hold you close to my heart forever.
