haven't updated in ages, cause, you know me, i dont' upgrade unless i gotta brag.
So basically, i just wanted ot wait till it was official. After 3 months of intense classes, training, and rotations, I'm finally a fully fledged New York State EMT. Woke up at 8am this morning, grabbed the R3, then the R7, then the NJ Transit and arrived at Penn Station. Walked aorund th estation cause i was bored, and was 5 hours early for the test. Decided to head to grand central station. While i was there, intriguedly observed a hand model...modeling. they had a giant camera, a director, and a light guy, and they kept her arm close to the camera, and she was wearing a watch, which i guess was the subject of the ad. I kept heckling, and was booted by the NYPD. Finally arrived at the test center, 3 hours early. couple of my classmates were there, so we chilled, joked around, the one guy is a real womanizer, so he flaunted his skill and picked up 4 phone numbers within a 2 hour period. Finally went into the test center, filled out a bunch of forms, and took the final part to our certification training.
Oh yeah, last saturday, was the first part of our testing, which was practicals. Had to strap people in, bag them, figure out diagnosis, etc. Haaaaaaaaaaaaard as a mofo. I messed up a traction splint, but they let me do it again, and passed, so that was the only difficulty i had.
Back to today. So the test was 110 questions, 2 hour time limit. Opened it, set myself int he zone, didnt' tell myself that i spent 3 months going to night classes and if i failed this that would have been all to waste. Instead, finished the test in 40 mins., threw it at the proctor. Had to wait another hour for them to score it, got a 98, got my temporary card, and i walked out of the buildling as a brand new EMT.
So basically summer plans are:
A) start my job at University of Pennsylvania as a lab tech next week
B) Also look around for some volunteer EMT work here
C) Go to bangladesh on June 29 till July 15
D)Come back and find a place to live in NYC, or hopefully by then dominic would have found a place and all i'd have to do is move in
E) find an EMT company in NYC to wokr for (shouldn't be bad, attended a job fair and got loads of info, maybe joining FDNY, or one of the private hospitals)
F) Start my junior year of college, which is all government classes, so it should be fun
Other then my confusion about my future, i think my life is pretty much a damn fine tune at the moment...
