She strides through the door, tossing a farewell in Greg's direction. Turning back around and continuing on down the steps, she doesn't notice Nate until she's done fixing her gloves. Her face brightens immeasurably when she sees him and she rushes over.
"Nate!" As she draws near, she slows her pace, the smile turning upside down. "Oh...do you need to sit down?"

"How was work? It wasn't bothering you all day, was it?"

"No, just once or twice," he replied. "It should go away, don't worry. How was your day?"

Nate was sympathetic about the homeless, but not an idealist about them.
"But good for you," he added, lifting a hand to pet her hair. "Maybe he'll take the hint."

She pauses, thinking for a moment, subconsciously leaning into Nate's touch. "Something else happened, though. A bunch of the books, the History books in particular...I'm not sure how to explain it." She shakes her head. "They were all wrong. It's probably nothing but a prank--an elaborate one--but it was quite alarming."

With his long shifts, he didn't get to spend as much time with his wife as he wanted.

It doesn't take them long to get home and when they do, Shiori starts with the cooking almost immediately. The rice on to boil and prodding at the wad of frozen ground beef, Shiori rubs the back of her neck with a gloved hand. "How was work other than the heartburn? Anything interesting happen?"

He hooked his jacket on a hanger, and frowned when something fell out of the inner pockets. Lying on the ground was some sort of odd card.

Walking back over to the stove, she notices the card fall to the floor out of the corner of her eye. "What's that?" she asks casually as she takes off the now-thawed outer layer of ground beef.

It was strangely reassuring, but for the life of him, he couldn't figure out why.
"I'm not sure. Maybe one of the guys put it there by accident." He flipped it on a nearby table, and immediately forgot about it. "Now all I want to think about is eating, and you."
