[03] out of the darkness, into the pit

Jul 19, 2009 20:40

The hallway is long, pitch dark, a vague light farther down the way.

[You will live]

"There you are." Grant reaches out in the darkness and rests a hand on Jeffrey's shoulder. "You shouldn't be afraid," he says as the other man trembles, "I did what had to be done." He can feel the heavy energy in his pocket from the Other's bones.

As they walk, the air grows damp and cool. City smells and sounds emerge as they grow nearer what looks to be the exit. They step out into an alleyway; it's raining. Turning back, they'll both find the hallway gone, only buildings and the alley and cars moving past. Grant has no idea where they are. He can feel his nerves growing ragged at the edges; he needs a hit. He needs something to center him. I need to get out of this insanity. I need I need I need

"I need to go home." There is something in his voice that borders on desperation.
