I am still in love with Dixit Maria by Hassler. It's just so dang beautiful :)
2007. Blam, another year. I agree with Dep, New Year's "Intentions" are more sound than resolutions. I have some, most of them are what they normally are. Consistency, but I'd like to keep improving.
(
This one is long, so I'm saving your Friend Pages by cutting it. Rambles about my major, about life, about friends, about Chris, love, about lots of things. )
I'm agreeing with everybody else!
1. You are a leader, there are no "ands, ifs, or buts" about that. So there's one thing you can mark off of your list. You have amazing leadership skills, you speak fairly and very clearly, and you are so understanding and well balanced (oh you beautiful libra!).
2. I think it would be best for you to go to UNC and see how you like it. You will either freaking adore the place or realize that it's just not what you thought it was going to be. I believe the main difference would be the size of the school. At UNC-CH, you are a number...and at Brevard you are a name. But then at the same time, UNC-CH is in a bigger city w/ more opportunities and more competition. Both schools have huge pros and cons.
3. I think that it's freaking great that you are so intellegent and good at so many different things. Who else can say that? It definately can get hard picking what you want to do, but atleast you arn't stuck doing one thing like most people are.
4. You have the rest of your life to figure out what you want to do as a career. Who says you have to stick w/ one job for your entire life? And who says you can't change your field all together once you hit grad school? I believe people think way too much about undergrad! A great aquantence that I looked up to very much so at the governor's school told me to just chill out and try alittle of everything during undergrad. Then once you get to grad school you become specific. Who says you can't major in english and minor in theater but end up going to grad school for like arts managment? It's ok to change your mind a million times! It doesn't mean that you are unintellegent and indecisive...it just means that you have alot more abilities than others and you are weighing out all of your options (oh libra!)

Last year I kept wanting to transfer but now I've decided to stay here for good. I think that the further I go here, the more opportunities I have. Look at how much in the music dept alone the teachers have helped me...and it's because I've stayed long enough to allow them to get to know me and help. What I love about brevard is teachers outside of your area are just as willing to get to know and guide you as the applied major professors. My only beef is: I wish I had that same connection w/ Murray...it just hasn't happened. I feel so much closer to Hoke, Porter, Gresham, McDowell, even Wilson and Elwood (whom I've totally cahnged my mind about since my first day of Orchestration! he's a great teacher and very organized when it comes to something he's very passionate about. He even admitted that in our class...he said "I know you all will be doing alot of work, but I only assign big projects to the subjects I'm very passionate about"). Anyway, one day I hope to get along with Murray the same way I do w/ the other teachers. I've learned from him what kind of learner I am, what kind of teacher I need, and what kind of teacher I will be in the future.
I love that half of the music students sit out in the "couch area" inbetween class and just chill. Today while I was practicing, 15kids were all huddled together...4 on a couch and some on the floor...where else will there be a "musical family" like this? Plus the family master wear's musical pirate headscarves - now really, what more could you ask for together with that laugh!? Tah hahaha (inpersonating HOKE - gotta love that woman! mmmm)
I'm not just saying all of this to try and convince you to stay...I'm just saying that you've helped me question alot of things and I'm very thankful for having such a close friend like you.
In my opinion, I believe you should definately apply to UNC and audition. Once you get it, you should go for a semester. I think that instead of having a bigger hurdle of "do I stay or do i go back to brevard", you will automatically know which school is right for you. Some religons beleive hard times occur so that the value learned from the anguish will relight their faith. And I believe you are going through something like that...maybe a religious experience, but definately something that will change your faith in Brevard and UNC-CH. Either way you go, you will learn something about yourself that will help you in the future...yeah you may have some regrets, but nomatter what you do...won't you always regret something? Who knows, if you go to UNC-CH you may realize that both Brevard and UNC-CH may not be the places for you and opportunities will arise for something even better!
Nobody really knows what the future brings (Que sera sera!)
Even if you do end up graduating from UNCCH and having a million babies with Chris, I know that we will always stay friends (even if we are too busy to stay in touch). Now you will know that being in Brevard for two years wasn't a waste of time merely on the fact that you've touched my life and majority of the people who sit in the "couch area" of Dunham. :)
Love and support you always,
Meggie
