So, I needed to cheer myself up after last night's game -we beat the Blues, 4-0, which is awesome because we needed it to cinch the playoffs, but Kaner got injured -he's going to be out until the end of the regular season at least- and I thought I would continue showing you why hockey is awesome.
So you want to hockey (like a Stanley Cup winner): OTPs
I have four die-hard OTPs for hockey; two of them are on the Blackhawks, one's on the Penguins and the other one's on the Flyers (well, they started out on the Flyers, but then Danny got traded to the Habs, but long distance isn't going to deter Claude. Also, Flyers, ugh.)
My first hockey love is Jonathan Toews/Patrick Kane; you may remember that they're the ones that made me start reading Hockey RPF and in turn, watch hockey itself. Let's have some visuals, shall we?
They are pretty, aren't they? The first one's Patrick Kane and the second one is Jonathan Toews. They're numbers are 88 and 19 respectively. In hockey, there's a lot of hugging. And groping. And general co-dependency done in the name of the sport itself:
Their fucken everything, seriously. Trust me it won't be long before they drag you in, too. Now, for the fic:
i'll keep an eye on you if you keep one on me by
marycontraire Summary: In which Jonathan Toews grounds Patrick Kane for the summer. Kaner doesn't seem to mind much, is the thing. Why you should read this: I recced this before, but that means nothing. It's so fucken good that I'm going to keep reccing it until everyone on flist has read it. GO READ IT, IT IS MADE OF AWESOME AND AMAZING WRITING.
A Very Kaner Christmas by
hawkjolras Summary: Patrick blurts, “I need you to be my Christmas boyfriend.”
“No,” Jonny says. He sounds confused, but in Patrick’s defense, it was a pretty straightforward request. Like, there’s only so much a guy can do.
(A lighthearted Christmas fic featuring a twin size bed, a hand knit scarf, a light-up Rudolph sweater, and a truly embarrassing amount of pining.)
Why you should read this: Fake boyfriend fic. At Christmas. With a happy ending. What more could you want?
fight or run, you're just getting older by
Rest Summary: Contrary to popular belief, weres don't actually need alphas. Patrick never had one, since he's the only person in his family with the gene, and his parents didn't push him into finding one. Alphas make their betas better; they keep them calm and level, they support them, they guide them. Without an alpha, betas are perfectly fine. They're just better with one. Why you should read this: Werewolf fic with wolf!Kaner and human!Jonny. It delivers a happy ending after some angst. Also, did I mention werewolf!fic?
I Only Have Teeth For You by
jedasaur Summary: "Did you bite him?" is the first thing out of Tazer's mouth.
"No, god, how much of an asshole do you think I am?" Patrick demands; but then a second later he adds, "I wanted to, though. I thought about doing it to you while he was jerking me off."
Why you should read this: Biting. Rough sex. Do I have to go on?
a light handed approach to regulation by
hazel Summary: Patrick Kane had soft hands. Why you should read this: Awesome take on the Alpha/Beta/Omega trope. Also notable as the one of the few times that I can by Tazer as a bottom (but he still tops, of course.)
So, there's your fic. I had to restrain myself so badly guys, you have no clue. There's so many more great fic with them, let me know if you need more and I'll link you to some.

My other Blackhawks OTP is: Duncan Keith/Brent Seabrook. Visuals:
Seabs is in the first pic and that's Duncs in the second. They're numbers are 7 and 2, respectively. And even amongst a sport known for it's freakishly close friendships, they take it to the next level.
Here, have some fic:
Adrenaline Crash/Burn/Return by
shihadchick Summary: Duncs and Seabs blow off some steam after the last game of the 2013 Western Conference Final. Why you should read this: Playoff porn. Enough said.
Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing by
shoemaster Summary: None of them have discussed the fact that Duncs is dating knock-off Seabses, because what can they really do about it? Why you should read this: I love obliviousness. And I love being in love with your best friend. And I love happy endings. If you love any of these things, too, then go read this.
Loosening My Grip by
shoemaster Summary: Brent's got the werewolf thing pretty well under control after 24 years, but one little concussion and some emotional turmoil centered around his best friend/defensive partner makes things harder than they've ever been before. (angsting, pining, hockey, werewolf, rinse repeat. Takes place during the 09-10 season.) Why you should read this: Werewolves. Pining. Hockey Players.
Play Along by
shoemaster Summary: I bet you a hundred bucks," Sharpy says, gesturing with his drink to punctuate how very serious he is about this suggestion, "that I can pick up the next person who walks in that door before you can."
Duncan Keith probably shouldn't have taken that bet.
Why you should read this: Fake boyfriends on a bet with a happy ending? Fuck yeah, you should read this.

Alright, time to leave my beloved 'Hawks and head to Pennsylvania where we'll meet the second half of my OTPs:
So, the Pittsburgh Penguins. Good team, my second favorite even. (Their defense is for shit, though. Alot of times, poor Flower is basically all they have.) And on this team, they have Sidney Crosby (hailed by most as the second coming of Gretsky, including the great one himself) and Evgeni Malkin (in almost all fics, they'll refer to him as Geno) who came from Russia to play for the NHL (and because of Sidney Crosby).
Sidney's on top and Geno's on bottom (so, so many jokes). They're numbers are 87 and 71.
Let's go on to the fic, shall we?
Two to Tango by
thehoyden,
twentysomething Summary: Sid’s only ever felt he was meant to be two places: on the ice, and in front of a classroom. But he looks at the penguins, then at Geno, and wonders if Geno is right. Why you should read this: AU which has teachers, zookeepers and for real facts, actual penguins. And smut (but not with memtioned penguins).
Striking Home by
missmollyetc,
thehoyden Summary: "So," Sid begins, and then has to clear his throat. "Last night. We kind of-did a thing." Why you should read this: Smut. No, really, that's all.
King and Lionheart by
thehoyden Summary: Sidney’s wedding day doesn’t go quite as he’d planned. When he’d bothered to imagine it at all, he’d thought of a nice June wedding in Nova Scotia, outdoors with the sun streaming down. He hadn’t imagined this hurried affair on the tarmac on a rainy and unseasonably cool day in early September, a month after his twenty-fifth birthday. Why you should read this: Arranged marriage!AU. With hockey, sex and feelings.
semantic shift by
neros_violin Summary: “He asked what some of the words meant, on the signs, what they yell. I told him. He’s a fan of Princess Sidney, especially.” Why you should read this: Geno calls Sid 'Princess' and Sid likes it. What more incentive do you need? There's smut, too, if you need some more.

Alright, we're almost at the end. It should be noted that in the whole of the NHL, there's only two teams I loathe: the Canucks and the Flyers. Thankfully, I have not sunk so low as to like someone from the Canucks, but, well, the same can't be said for the Flyers...
Danny Briére is first and then Claude Giroux; their numbers are 48 and 28. Danny got traded, but that doesn't affect my love for these two. (Btw, I'm still waiting for the long distance relationship fic, fandom.) Don't be surprised if the sight of this particular shade of orange ignites you into a rage.
Onto the fic:
Friday Night Arrives Without a Suitcase by
marycontraire Summary: “People who want to eat my grilled cheese for dinner should learn not to interrupt the delicate purchasing process with their unwelcome mockery,” Claude says." Danny and Claude move to Berlin. Nothing really changes, until everything does. Why you should read this: This pairing is the standard for domestic fic in Hockey RPF and this story excels at it.
A Good Education by
rsadelle Summary: With two of his kids out of the house and nothing else to keep him busy in retirement, Danny goes to college. He makes friends with some of his classmates, and that thing where he sometimes hooks up with Claude turns into a real relationship. Why you should read this: The summary says it all, really. Lots of sex, lots of feelings. It's long, too. Go check it out.
this is how it starts by
unperfectwolf Summary: Claude isn't sure how he got pulled into this-except, yes, he is. He got pulled into this because of Danny's puppy dog eyes and his inability to ever say no to them. Why you should read this: They adopt a kid and then get together. It doesn't get better than that.
Moving In, Moving Up by
pikasfire Summary: The Schenn brothers make the worst housemates; Claude can't take it anymore. Why you should read this: Oblivious boys are the best.

So, hope you guys liked this and that it helps you get hooked understand why I like their stupid faces.
