A letter

Dear Mother Nature,

I realize that we, as a human race in general, have mishandled our responsibilities toward you. But please, take pity on us tired, worn out CNY teachers. We would really appreciate a snow day this week. Many of us will surely reciprocate your generosity by putting up bird feeders and planting some lovely flowers in our gardens this spring.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Rowan

P.S. I'm sure the students would also appreciate a snow day as well.

In other news, my lit practicum is in full swing. I'm working with a first grader who is hearing-impaired, so we get to use one of those microphone-ear systems (I think his is called either a Sonic Ear or a Phonic Ear). It's interesting. It's a long day twice a week, but it's interesting. And I get to work for a half hour in a group tutoring session with Emily, so that's nice too. And the lecture part of the class is really only an hour and fifteen minutes or so, once we deliver the kids to their parents and get ourselves some snackables.

I made bouef bourguignon on Valentine's Day and it came out splendidly. We had Mom, Rie and Uncle Greg and Gramma and Grampa over to enjoy it. I had all of them (plus Brian and Candace) over the week before for chili and stromboli and cheesecake to watch the Super Bowl, and this weekend Mom had everybody over (including Christina!) to her house for turkey dinner. We are liking the big Sunday family dinners. It's fun and it's good for our family. We tagged Rie (or at least her house) for this coming Sunday.

We have all these little gnats flying around our house and it's very irritating. We've tried several things to get rid of them, but no luck. They don't seem to be swarming in any particular place, so we can't pinpoint where they're coming from. They've just been buzzing into our eyes for about three weeks now and it's really irritating. I think we may just have to scrub the house top to bottom this weekend, put plastic bags over the potted plants, and see what that does for us.

Olympics have been fun to watch, but unfortunately most of the events we would want to watch are on really late (ice skating, for example). At least I've gotten to watch some speed skating - I love watching Apolo Ohno! He always pulls it out at the last minute and I'm on the edge of my seat the whole time. I think his next race is tomorrow night. I may be watching a bit too much Apolo because I had a dream about him the other night. It was a very good dream, and I think Aaron would be jealous except for the fact that I wasn't myself in my dream.
