Dean gets to know Man's Best Friend pn SPN (My 9x05 Thoughts)
It's time for the Winchesters to get themselves a four-legged friend!

**MAJOR SPOILER ALERT*
"Supernatural" - ep. 9x05 ("Dog Dean Afternoon") [CW Promo]
Synopsis: DOGGIE DEAN-LITTLE - While investigating two bizarre murders, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) realize there is an eye witness to both gruesome deaths- a German Sheppard. Anxious to find out if they are dealing with a witch, a skin walker or other supernatural monster, the guys look up a spell that could let Dean "communicate" with the dog. Unfortunately the spell comes with side effects that no one saw coming.

MOL Bunker
- Dean reports to Sam on Kevin's hungover status
- Does that mean that Kevin is back at the bunker?
- Sam has news on another case
- Dean questions Sam about his health
- Sam feels great (had 3 nights straight of 8hrs of sleep)
- Dean is still hesitant
- Sam tells Dean about the case...where the guy's body was crushed
Workplace
- Sam and Dean arrive and notice the graffiti (with an unusual mark...of a paw print in a triangle)
- Sam and Dean split up with the investigation
- Dean questions the victim's friend
- Sam goes with the local LEOs
- LEO returns with news that nothing was taken (no robbery)
- Dean learns that the dog was the only thing left in the shop when the victim was found
- Sam and Dean regroup
- Dean wants to regroup elsewhere
- I can't blame him...the dead animals are creepy
Motel
- Sam finds the graffiti mark online (part of an activist's group)
- Group = S.N.A.R.T.
- Sam wonders whether they are dealing with witches or hippies
- Dean doesn't see the difference
WEBCLIP -- Vegan Bakery
- Sam and Dean enter and look around
- "I always knew I'd find the source of all evil in a vegan bakery." -Dean
- Oh I love Dean and his comments
- Sam notices an odd odor
- Dean gives a distinct description ("Patchouli. Mixed with depression from meat deprivation.")
- Meat-loving Dean doesn't disappoint...he doesn't like the place at all
- Dean notices the employees wearing sunglasses...inside
- "You know who wears sunglasses inside? Blind people...and douchebags." -Dean
- Dean shakes his head after his comment
- Sam grimaces in somewhat agreement
- Sam and Dean question the sunglasses-wearing employees (who are founders of the activist's group)
about the victim
- Couple reveals that they were maced last night (why they were wearing sunglasses) after tagging the
place as a way to scare the victim
- They heard hissing before that which is why they started to run
- Sam and Dean cringed when the couple remove their sunglasses (the skin around their eyes is really
blistered)
Motel
- Sam makes the connection that the monster has snake-like qualities
- The couple wasn't maced last night....it was due to the snake-monster
- The brothers try to think of a monster with snake-like qualities
- Dean suggests that they call Kevin to do some research
Animal Shelter
- Mr. Cowboy Hat arrives (wasn't this actor on Supernatural before? He looks familiar)
- He bribes the attendant to let him in
- Mr. Cowboy Hat takes all the cats out of their cages
- The dogs bark like crazy
- The attendant checks the noise out
- The attendant watches in horror as Mr. Cowboy Hat finishes eating a cat whole
- Mr. Cowboy Hat's snake features (eyes and nails) show before he kills the attendant
COMMERCIAL
Animal Shelter
- Sam and Dean watch the attendant's dead body being taken away
- The body had claws and the shelter's cats are missing
- Dean notices one of the dogs looking familiar
- Sam comments that he's the owner of the first victim
- Dean thinks the dog is a suspect (potentially skinwalker)
- Dean tests the dog out...he bets the dog with a silver coin in his hands
- LEO from earlier gives his assistance to the brothers
- Dean notices the dog barking at the LEO
- Dean tests his theory out before claiming that the dog is an actual witness
- "Hey boy, do you speak sign language?" -Dean
"That's monkeys." -Sam
- I was not expecting Sam's response
- Sam has an idea
- Sam calls Kevin about how to speak to a dog
Motel
- Sam gets ready to perform a spell from the MOL archives
- A spell that allows a human-animal mind-meld
- Dean offers to make the animal mind-meld
- Dean comments on Sam's 'sensitive stomach'
- Dean drinks the concoction before reciting the spell
- Dean starts talking/joking with the dog
- The dog barks...Dean got nothing
- Dean and Sam finish eating (some time has passed by this point)
- Dean tells Sam to call Kevin back about the spell's failure
- Dean starts hearing another voice...he realizes that its the dog talking
- Dean hears the dog talk about Rock music before he talks about the monster that killed his master and
the attendant
- Sam notices a few times that Dean brought back his thrown-away trash and Dean scratching himself
- Dog starts barking at the window...Dean mimics him
- I really had to look away from the screen...the behavior was just too embarrassing to watch
- Sam realizes that the spell worked a little too well
- Dean gives a Scooby-Doo response
- Is he going to actually turn into a furry four-legged animal? I sure hope not!!
COMMERCIAL
Motel
- Sam finishes a call with Kevin
- Sam relays the side-effects he learned from Dean
- Dean is frustrated...while arguing with the dog
- Dean takes a bite from a chocolate bar
- The dog advises against it
- Dean is sad
Pakring Lot
- Dean explains their next plan to the dog...they are going to the animal shelter
- A bird poops on the Impala
- Dean is furious
- The bird retaliates with a snarky comeback
- Dean is stunned
- Dean learns from dog that he can hear all animals (they have a universal language)
- I bet he's going to get a headache soon
- Dean argues with the pigeon before he pulls a gun out on it (LOL!)
- Sam pulls Dean away
- Sam drives while Dean sticks his head out the window
- They arrive at their next destination
- Sam gets ready to head inside...he tells Dean to leave the dog in the car
- Dean tells Sam off about leaving the dog into the car (even if the windows are down)
- "Respect." -Dog
- Dean/Dog have a moment as they oogle a nearby poodle
- Sam rushes Dean inside
- OMG that's so awkward!
Animal Shelter
- Dean questions the animals but he's getting more complaints than answers
- They are about to leave when Dean hears one animal call him out
- Another dog has news but he wants a belly scratch from Sam
- The voice of this dog sounds familiar...the attitude is amusing though
- Sam scratches the dog's belly as Dean questions the dog
- "Sam." -Dean
"Hand cramps." -Sam
"He's not talking." -Dean
- LOL!!
- Belly-scratched dog reveals a restaurant's name on the bag that the cats were stuffed in
- Sam returns the dog to its cage before they head out
- Dean pauses and releases the dogs
- "I didn't peg you for a softie." -Dog
- Dean shrugs
- Sam smirks
Closed Restaurant (Night)
- Sam and Dean break in from the back
- I guess even after hours they won't let the dog into a 'no pets allowed' restaurant
- Sam finds a picture of 'Chef Leo' (who has a cowboy hat on)
- Sam searches the drawer...he finds lots of perscriptions
- Dean hears 'child-like voices'
- Dean finds caged rats, who tell him to check the fridge
- Sam finds a spellbook that lists animal organs and the effects the eater gets once the organ is consumed
- Dean finds the fridge full of animal organs
- Sam finds mixed recipe cards
- Sam and Dean hear noises...they check it out
- Sam and Dean find a chef and a waiter...they get rid of them
- Sam and Dean split up and wait for 'Chef Leo' to arrive
- Sam hears something and goes to investigate
- Chef Leo appears from the wall...he took the chameleon's trait
- Sam is attacked and scratched in the neck...he's bleeding a lot
- Sam stumbles as he bleeds
- Sam's eyes flash blue....Ezekiel is in control
- Ezekiel heals Sam's wound before letting Sam gaining control again
- Sam brushes his neck to find no wounds there
- Chef Leo is surprised...he wonders what Sam is
- Sam has no clue what he's talking about
- Chef Leo knocks Sam out...he plans to eat Sam next
- Why the hell would Ezekiel take control for a moment only to give Sam control again when there is still danger
nearby? Wouldn't it be wise for Ezekiel to take control, hear Sam's body and they dispose of the threat (Chef
Leo) before anymore damage could be done....?
COMMERCIAL
- Chef Leo prepares his knives
- Sam is unconscious on the kitchen floor
- Why has Ezekiel taken control again?
- Dean arrives with his gun aimed on Chef Leo
- Chef Leo notices the wet-dog smell...he's surprised to find that it comes from Dean
- Dean fires a shot and it misses
- Chef Leo attacks and ties Dean up
- Dean comments on Chef Leo being sick
- Chef Leo isn't phased
- Dean clarifies and sniffs out that Chef Leo has cancer
- Chef Leo explains his health issue leading to his animal food-craze
(and the witchcraft saving him)
- Chef Leo explains that he plans to kill Dean then eat Sam for his healing powers
- Chef Leo eats the wolf heart just before Dean escapes
- Dean makes a move
- Chef Leo deflects and reveals his wolf teeth

- The swarm of dogs come and attack Chef Leo

- Dean tries calling out to Ezekiel...it doesn't work

Vegan Bakery
- Dean is giving the dog to the Activist Couple
- The couple is excited
- Dean says his goodbyes to the dog...he wishes they could bring him but they can't
- Dog doesn't mind as he gets car sick (LOL!)
- "I was afraid to tell you earlier but I barfed in your backseat." -Dog
"What?" -Dean
- Dean assures the dog of his new family...which is deserves
- They admit that they'll miss each other ("I'll miss you buddy.")
- Dean shakes the dog's paw
- Dog confesses to Dean that dogs aren't really man's best friend
- The spell wears off before Dean could hear the reason why dogs were put on Earth
- Oh how typical and Dean knows it
- Dean is frustrated by this
- Dean pets the dog one final time
Outside Restaurant
- Dean rejoins Sam
- Dean tells him that the spell wore off
- Sam still can't get what Chef Leo said about him...about what he was
- Dean tries to deflect Sam off the subject
- "Trust me Sammy, you have nothing to worry about." -Dean
- Sam and Dean hit the road

I say this was another filler episode but it was entertaining and comedic. Poor Dean though.
