Hunters become Thieves on SPN! (My 13x08 Thoughts)
I also got a tumblr page (link on the side) so many of the gifs used here have been reblogged there (since I have no clue as to how to make a gif).
Alright so here is a jotted recap of the episode with my initial thoughts included throughout and after the episode. I do it this way because my memory sucks when it comes to recalling things that don't revolve around my OTP for the series.
SEASON 13

Synopsis: THE BIG HEIST - Feeling as if they are running out of options, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) agree to steal a mysterious trunk belonging to a demon named Barthamus (guest star David Cubitt), in exchange for a locater spell the Winchesters can use to track down Jack.
This shall be interesting...
THEN
- Jack accidentally kills someone on a hunt
- Jack leaves to protect everyone
- Lucifer returns
- Lucifer is upset that the Winchesters lost his son
- Arthur Ketch returns (with the rouse that he's Alex)
- Castiel is determined to find and protect Jack
NOW
Cambridge, England
7:45pm Friday
Museum
- A woman enters the exhibit just as its about to close
- Woman enters the staff corridor
- Woman tries to enter a password before she busts in
- Woman finds and takes an ancient scroll (two pages)
- A woman gets caught by a guard
- Black smoke from the woman goes to the guard
- The Demon-Guard looks at the package
- A demon is behind the robbery?!
Alleyway
- Demon-Guard meets with another demon in the alleyway
- Second Demon praises him
- "How do you think Asmodeus will reward us?" -Demon-Guard
- Second Demon kills the guard
- Second Demon calls upon Dean Winchester with an offer
TITLE CARD
Bunker
- Dean cleans his weapon again
- Sam returns with no news about Arthur Ketch
- Dean wonders about Jack
- Sam called Castiel with nothing new
- Sam brings up searching the lore again
- Dean worries that Jack will do something bad before he's found
- Dean gets an unknown call...its the Demon in England
- "What if I told you I had a way to find your boy?" -Demon
Streets
- Sam and Dean argue about meeting with the demon
WEBCLIP No. 1 -- Diner
- The Demon stands as Sam and Dean join him at his booth
- Sam and Dean take a seat
- "The famous Winchesters!" -Demon
- "Some random demon." -Dean
- Demon introduces himself as Barthamus (Bart for short)
- Barthamus passes his cherry pie over to Dean
- Dean barely looks at the slice
- Dean tries to get a feel for Barthamus
- "Well Bart, I don't know what you've heard about us but..." -Dean
- "Everything. I've been following your careers a long time. You're a real pain in the pitchfork...and the halo.
- Natural disruptors, we have that in common, you and I." -Bart
- "Yeah, we're twinsies." -Dean
- Sam tries to get back on track
- "Alright, you said you had something for us." -Sam
- Bart takes out a spell page
- "That is a genuine Nephilim tracking spell." -Bart
- Sam quick grabs the page to check it
- Dean has his doubts
- "Yeah, and I just won the Powerball." -Dean
- "You don't believe me." -Bart
- "You think." -Dean
- Sam questions Barthamus and his motives
- "Wait a sec, even if this is real..." -Sam
- "It's real." -Barthamus
- "Why would you give it to us?" -Sam
- "I'm a crossroads demon, Sam. After Crowley's promotion to King of Hell, THE Crossroads Demon.
- Helping people is what I do, my raison d'être." -Barthamus
- Dean looks to Sam
- "Okay look, we've been around long enough to know that nothing is ever free. So what's the catch?" -Sam
- "You got me. I do need something in return, cal it a favor." -Barthamus
- "Yeah but you already gave us the spell." -Dean
- "Half a spell. The other half is elsewhere but I'll be happy to hand it over once we're done." -Barthamus
- Dean refers Barthamus's offer
- Barthamus isn't surprised (he chuckles at the predictability)
- "See, here's the thing, when a demon tells us to jump, we don't ask how high. We just ice their ass." -Dean
- "How very Dean of you." -Bart
- Barthamus stands up and tells Sam to verify the spell's accuracy as their proof of his offer
- "Sam, do me a favor, you're the smart one, look into that. And I'll be in touch." -Barthamus
- Barthamus walks away
- Dean makes sure he's gone
- Dean starts eating the cherry pie
- Sam stares at Dean
Bunker
- Sam looks over the first half of the spell
- Dean wonders about the spell
- "The spell...I think it checks out." -Sam
- Sam explains the translation and the lore attached to it
- Sam doesn't want to do Bart's bidding but they have no other option to find Jack
- Dean is skeptical
- "Sam, you know these things don't usually go our way." -Dean
- Sam argues that they need to find Jack
Warehouse
- Sam and Dean meet with Barthamus
- Barthamus and his crew are waiting for them
- Barthamus introduces his associates (Smash and Grab)
- Dean jokes about a heist going down
- "What is this? A heist? Wait, is this a heist?" -Dean
- Barthamus wants the Winchesters to steal back his property from a man named Luthor
- Barthamus doesn't reveal what it is they are stealing back but it's protected against demons
- "What's in the safe?" -Dean
- "Why are you robbing yourself?" -Sam
- Barthamus needs the blood of a man who has been to hell and back
- There is a spell that's protecting his property to be broken that requires that blood
- Dean offers his blood immediately (flashes of Dean's time in Hell)
- Barthamus reveals that it has to be fresh blood that falls on the spell to break it
- Sam asks against what it is that Barthamus wants back
- Barthamus doesn't say
- Sam refuses to help
- Barthamus reveals that if they don't help, he'll take the spell to Asmodeus
- "I don't trust him." -Barthamus (about Asmodeus)
- Sam and Dean discuss Bart's plans for them
- Dean knows they will get screwed over
- "Well I've seen this movie a thousand times." -Dean
- Sam thinks they should screw with Barthamus first
- Sam says they do the plan, get the spell then kill Barthamus
- Dean agrees wholeheartedly
- Sam and Dean tell Barthamus that they will do the plan
- Sam admits they will need a distraction as they locate the safe
Luthor's House
- A demon meets with Luthor about an attack from Barthamus happening
- A demon wants Luthor to send word to Asmodeus when 'Barthamus the Traitor' shows his face
- Luthor has other plans
- Luthor starts an exorcism on the demon
- "Tell your boss I don't take orders. I give them." -Luthor
- Demon returns to his smoke-form and heads to Hell
COMMERICAL
Luthor's Property
- Sam drives up with the excuse of selling family antiques to Luthor
- Dean and "Smash" hide in the back
- Sam is granted access
- Sam drives up the road before letting Dean and "Smash" out of the car
- "Dean, don't get dead." -Sam
- "You too." -Dean
- Sam continues to the house witih his box of family antiques
- Sam rings the bell
- Occult symbols are everywhere
- Luthor calls out to Sam
- Sam finds Luthor in his study
Luthor's Property
- Dean and "Smash" find a barn on the property
- Dean prepares the summoning spell
- "Smash" waits and she drinks 'Nerve Damage'
- Dean comments on drinking a caffeine drink 'Nerve Damage' when he was a kid
- "Didn't know they made that anymore." -Dean
- "Ebay." -Smash
- "Smash" offers a can to Dean
- Dean wonders about why "Smash" is working with demons
- "Smash" evades the questions
- "Smash" tells Dean to hurry up about the summoning spell
- Dean summons "Grab"
- "Grab" explains his locator spell to Dean
- Dean's blood will guide them to the safe
- "Are you saying I'm some sort of vault compass?" -Dean
Luthor's House
- Luthor offers Sam a drink
- Sam drinks the strong drink
- Sam comments on the sizeable collection
- Luthor brings up one of his collection pieces
- Sam makes the correction
- Luthor wants to get to business
- Sam reveals that his family heirloom is a knife that could kill demons
- They better not lose that knife!
Luthor's Property (Woods)
- Dean is forced to follow the spell that leads them to the vault
- Dean is pissed by the essence of the spell
- "Grab" comments on how he perfected the tracking spell
- Dean isn't pleased
- "I will kill you." -Dean
- "I bet you say that to all the girls." -"Grab"
- They zero in on the safe's location...to an underground cellar
Luthor's House
- Luthor wants to conclude the sale
- Sam tries to stall
- Luthor accuses Sam of being a demon
- A fight breaks out
- Sam stabs Luthor
- Luthor doesn't react
- "Bart didn't tell you? As long as I'm on the property, I can't die." -Luthor
- Luthor hits Sam over the head
Basement
- Dean stalls...he doesn't want to put his hand in the door's mouth
- "Smash" pushes Dean towards the door
- Dean pumps himself up before putting his hand in the door's mouth
- Dean gets stuck in the contraption before his blood is drawn in a prick
- "It got me!" -Dean
- "Smash" isn't impressed
- Door opens to revealed a symbol covered floor with a safe at the end of it
- "Smash" walks towards it
- A trap is triggered
- Dean pulls "Smash" out of the way
- Both are furious that Barthamus never mentioned the trap
Outside
- "Grab" tries to call out for an update
- Luthor sneaks up behind him and stabs him with the demon knife
Basement
- Dean goes on an annoyed rant about Barthamus
- "Smash" gets Dean's attention...Luthor is right behind them
- Dean goes silent
- "Smash" kicks her way past Luthor
- Dean isn't pleased
- Dean asks about Sam
- Luthor admits that he left Sam alive
- Dean notices Luthor holding Ruby's knife
- Dean pulls out his gun
- Dean wants the contents of the safe
- Luthor refuses
- Luthor advances on Dean
- Dean fires a few shots at Luthor
- Luthor continues unaffected
- Sam interrupts with news of Luthor being immortal
- "Dean! He's immortal!" -Sam
- Dean knocks Luthor out with his gun
- Sam is stunned
COMMERICAL
Basement
- Luthor is tied up
- Dean wants answers about the safe
- Luthor admits about the traps he had set up
- "Gentlemen I wish you good fortune." -Luthor
- "I'd wish you'd shut up." -Dean
- Dean duct-tapes Luthor's mouth shut
Outside
- "Smash" (Alison) makes a run for it
- Barthamus blocks her path at the gate
- Barthamus wants Alison to get back to work (he won't change her deal)
Basement
- Sam and Dean try to figure out how to get pass the darts
- "I just got an idea but it's a little crazy." -Sam
- "I'm good with crazy." -Dean
- Sam and Dean push Luthor through the triggered tunnel
- Luthor gets injected by many darts
- "That was awesome!" -Dean
- Sam examines the safe
- Dean resets Luthor (who is pissed)
- Alison returns
- Dean is surprised
- Sam realizes that Alison sold her soul
- As long as Alison works for Barthamus, he never collects her soul
- Alison gets to work on cracking Luthor's safe
- Sam and Dean grab the trunk inside
- As they leave, they find Luthor gone
- Alison freaks out
- Dean tells them to keep moving
Outside
- Sam and Dean load the Impala
- Alison gets in the back with the trunk
- Dean finds the road blocked by Luthor in his own car
- "Does this guy ever stop?" -Dean
- Dean starts driving backwards to get away from Luthor
- Sam fires a shot at Luthor's tires
- Dean stops the car
- Sam and Dean hold their guns on Luthor
- Sam demands for Luthor to get out
- Luthor questions Sam and Dean's loyalities for working with evil like Barthamus
- Sam wonders why
- Luthor brings up how he made a deal to save his son only for him to die a few years later
- When the hellhounds came for him, Luthor made a new deal which gained him leverage
- "What kind of leverage?" -Sam
- "Look in the truck." -Luthor
- Luthor tosses over the keys
- Sam opens the trunk...inside them are Barthamus's bones
- If Barthamus's bones are burned, he's destroyed for good
- Luthor has the boys questioning their side
- Luthor is beheaded by Barthamus
COMMERICAL
Road
- Barthamus comments on Luthor's death
- "Trust me, he had it coming." -Barthamus
- Dean brings up Luthor's dead son
- Barthamus brings up the fine print of Luthor's contract
- Luthor was 200 years old
- Barthamus pays Alison for her contract
- Alice reluctantly takes her wages
- Barthamus pulls out the spell's second piece
- Sam and Dean refuse
- Barthamus is stunned
- Barthamus uses Alice as his leverage for his bones
- Sam and Dean reluctantly push the box of bones towards Barthamus
- Barthamus tells Alice to retrieve it for him
- Alice apologizes
- Dean understands her motives yet motions for the box
- Alison sees the lighter inside
- Alison moves to retrieve the bones
- Alison quickly lights the bones on fire
- Barthamus goes up in flames (as Crowley's "replacement", he didn't last long)
- Dean urges Sam to get the spell
- Sam is unable to stop the flames from destroying the spell
- I hope Bart had a copy of that spell piece somewhere!!!
COMMERICAL
Streets
- Sam and Dean walk Alison to the bus stop
- Alice thanks and apologizes to the brothers
- "Thank you, seriously. See you around." -Alice
- "Hey Alice...stay weird." -Dean
- Alice gives Dean a rocker peace out sign
Bunker
- Dean grabs a beer for him and Sam
- Sam feels awful
- Dean thinks they made some progress...they saved Alice
- Sam hates that they have no lead on Jack again
- Dean tells Sam that they'll keep trying and move forward in their search
- Sam is glad to hear that Dean has hope
- Dean will drink to that
- "I'll drink to that." -Dean
- They clink bottles before drinking
CREDITS
