An awful lot happened in the past week. All positive and very close to overwhelming.
On Sunday I took a great bike ride with Erin and as we were heading back the sun was setting and lights were coming on. Cruising down 7th, I felt a rush of excitement to just be out and doing this. And excitement hasn't been something I've felt in a decently long time. Probably since September. And I'm not exaggerating. I guess not working and being home through most of winter had a negative effect on my mood and was probably something related to the 'Winter Blues'. But for the past few weeks with the weather getting a little better I noticed myself coming out of it. And last Sunday seems to have been the last of it. I feel better. I feel creative. I feel like I can be inspired and these are feelings I greatly missed.

Monday, I got a call from a landscaping company I applied to. They asked could I come in for an interview on the following day.

Tuesday, I head into the office in Burnaby. It's just a typical office but I'm brought into the general meeting room. The walls are covered with certificates, diplomas and degrees. There is the post board where photos of employees working in gardens are hanging up. All wearing their own clothes (the idea of wearing a uniform for landscaping is ridiculous to me but popular with larger companies). The board beside that has photos of boardgames being played on game days. There are photos of the company picnic, sports outings, raffles, parties, workshops. And I get excited. The interview goes great. The company is incredibly employee based. With a very strong idea that happy employees make for better employees. A very fair pay scale with incentives to take workshops and learn plant identification. It's definitely a company I'd like to work for.

Wednesday, Navi & I head down to Seattle to spend the night at Genevieve's before flying to Chicago. Again, I'm actually excited for traveling.

Thursday, we get into Chicago and get picked up by Troy. Chicago is a great city. I was surprised with how much I liked it. The people were friendly, the architecture was some of the nicest I've ever seen and it had such a good 'city feel' to it. Seeing the life that Troy lives was a bit strange. Very surreal. From teen girls randomly coming up to him for pictures to his penthouse suite and Stanley Cup ring the size of a two-year-old's fist. VIP treatment at restaurants and bars. It was all just.. surreal. He did spoil us a bit which was a little weird but he was very insistent and it was cool of him. We actually had never spent much time with him and his wife without the parents so it was a nice change.

Friday, I get a call from the company. I got the job starting next Monday. I also get a text from Andrew. He won another ticket to see the Space Shuttle launch in April. So I can take the ticket I originally turned down. So I'm going to the second last launch ever.

So all this in a week. It was a good one.
