Yeah, I figured that a general life update might be a good thing.
Classes are going well, though as you might have gathered, it is Research Paper Time. This time, however, I am not going to wait until the night before the paper is due and then work myself into an anxiety attack.
I have already begun to work upon it! :D I figure two to three hours every day, and I'll be ready by the time the first draft is due next Thursday.
Tomorrow there is a Choir Thing at Sierra College. A bunch of collegic choirs get together to sing for each other, and then we get a chance to work with a co-ordinator of some sort. This year's is
Vance George, so we are VERY excited. <3
Except, of course, for some assholes in the class who just don't care about the incredible opportunity we're getting. Several of the ladies have, apparently, decided simply not to show up tomorrow, because 'they don't want to get up that early'.
I'm sorry, if a girl who lives in DAVIS is willing to get up at seven in the morning so she can be at ARC by eight in order to give me a ride so we can be signed in at Sierra by nine, YOU CAN DO IT TOO.
Hell, if I am willing to get up at seven in the morning in order to get to ARC by eight so we can get to Sierra by nine -- me, who doesn't get out of BED before ten if I don't have to -- YOU CAN DO IT TOO.
I really, really hope Hughes boots them.
In other news, I am still writing, though meme-work has unfortunately been set aside for the nonce in favour of school-writing. At the moment, I'm working on some scenes from Time Warp, the second installment in the Time Travel series. Time Travel is a Sailor Moon/Dresden Files crossover starring Saffir/Sapphire of Nemesis.
Why?
Because I have the crack.
Saffir hadn't crafted a droid in years, but it was not a skill easily lost. It was not, however, an ability that meshed well with the necromancy Cowl was trying to teach him. Death magic and life magic were related, but they did not work well together.
He would never inform the death wizard of this, however. It was easy enough to mark his creations with Cowl's necromancy. To the casual and not-so-casual onlooker, it would appear as though the droids drew from that power.
It was a deadly game Saffir played against a dangerous opponent, but he had been raised on such games. Deception had been his mother's milk, lies his bread and butter. He, the secondary heir to the throne of Nemesis, had managed to survive to adulthood despite the backstab politics of his homeworld. If his years in Satoshi's body had blunted his skill at this game, well, perhaps this time death would stick.
So long as he kept the necromancer from acquiring the planetary magic of the Sailor Soldiers, Saffir would win. A second death was a small price to pay for it, and he had already ensured he would leave no body for Cowl to bespell.
Only three things could derail his plan, and all three of those things were beyond his control. Well, Sailor Pluto likely wouldn't interfere; Saffir was quite through with altering the time stream.
Jaspis, however, was Nemesis-bred, and of those against him now, was the most familiar with Saffir's magic. If anyone was to realise the droids weren't operating with necromancy, it would be him. On the other hand, Jaspis _was_ from Nemesis, and while his clan had been destroyed before the attack on Earth, simply being Nemesian might be enough to prejudice him to the Sailor Soldiers.
Of course, half the time it seemed as though the former lord was going native. Saffir made a mental note to deal with his old rival.
And then there was Sailor Saturn.
Saffir paused in his work to consider her.
One would never guess, looking at the frail, petite young woman, that she was the second-most-powerful Sailor Soldier, with the power of Saturn and jurisdiction over death and rebirth. She could destroy entire planets -- had destroyed entire planets, according to texts Saffir had read in his youth.
She, more than anything, could contribute to the success or failure of his plan. Her power had been the reason Saffir had focused so heavily on her when Nemesis had attacked the Earth, nearly to the exclusion of the other Soldiers. His ability to create droids fell under her jurisdiction, which was why he hadn't sent them against her older self so long ago.
Unfortunately, this also meant that he didn't know how she would react to the droids, or what information she might glean from them. Saturn was an unknown factor, and her power too great for him to counter now in this younger, borrowed body with his powers not as strong as they once were.
Between Saturn and Jaspis....
Saffir could feel a headache coming on.
I've also been watching Linkara's
History of Power Rangers, which is getting my ficbunnies attacking me again. OC Rangers for the WIN. Especially OC Rangers who have to make do with second-hand zords because they have no idea how to access their own.
("Callie, I'm Seiryuu. The Blue Dragon Ranger. Why is my zord red? ....why did you just hand me a bucket of blue paint?")
I have also been sucked back into the
MagiStream, as some of you may have been able to tell. (
suzukiblu I'm sorry about the twitterspam DDDDDDX) Because I got bored one day, I started collecting all the lovely, lovely flavour text into a document.
Because I can be both bored AND lazy, I went searching for a resource that would give me all the flavour text I needed.... and discovered that the
MagiStream Wiki was badly out of date.
For some reason*, I decided that I would Fix This, and set about doing such. I have worked MUCH Wiki Magic, but I am still not finished. But there is a new critter in the stream now, the Brontotherium! I has a happy.
*I have the crazy.
And so I will finish the State of the Pux with clickables. Because I can.
