Sabres and broad swords and spears, oh my.

In Shaolin Kung Fu class yesterday we did some training with some kind of sparring stick. It's only a simple item: solid wood, about 2 foot long and as thick as a broom handle. Escrima is a martial art in the Phillipines. The stick is used for sparring because the actual martial art is to train to use long knives in street fights (rough place apparently). Unfortunately I don't know what stick you need though... Might be worth asking your sifu if and what you need (they may also be able to supply them...) also, here is where I get my tai chi swords and other cool clobber for chinese martial arts.

BTW, will we be seeing yourself and rbsfou on the 5th of November?

Hey, I haven't seen that site before. How cool is that Kung Fu flute? :) I want to find out about the flute form now. I wonder if there's a guitar form, although I guess you'd only get 1 hit in with that. Unfortunately that website doesn't have the stick either. The stick itself is nothing special, just a solid wooden stick 2 foot long, like a sawn off broom-handle, but harder. But yes, you're right; the school probably does supply them as I know they supply swords.

Yeah, I'll be over on the 5th. It feels like a long time since I was there.

cool! hopfully it will open her eyes to the crimes of factory farming. And, provided your willing to actually cook, it works out no more expensive to eat ethically reared meat. Hugh has another show on this month which may get her into the spirit of it. Failing this I'll send you back with a fe cuts of meat for her to try.
