Sam's first trip to the hotel bar was less spectacular then he thought it would be, but clearly he was too accustom to greasy spoons and random city dives, or at the very least... places more like the Roadhouse... not this fancy excuse for a watering hole ( Read more... )

Alright, so Haley seems to have weird timing. Sometimes she has horrible timing, sometimes she has good timing, and then other times she's not really sure. She was coming down to the bar for a little wallow drinking herself. See, it'd been a mood she was covering for a few days now.

Now, she didn't want to have that awkward talk after spontaneous sex, you know. In fact, it was the last thing on her mind, but then again she wanted a drink and she couldn't avoid him forever.

She came up to the bar ordering a whiskey sour on the rocks. She gave him a slight smile and decided it was better to say something than nothing.

"Hey."

((ooc: great icon.))

"Hey." Sam said, greeting her after swallowing a mouthful of Tequila, and offered her a lazy smile. He thought about following that up with a 'Been awhile.', but that was just plain cheesy, even for him. He wasn't drunk enough for that yet.

(ooc:Thank You. Out of my pb's limited work, I do find some good ones. Yours are good as well:)

"I'll have a whiskey on the rocks."

Her drink was ready in a moment and she took a quick sip before noticing what he was drinking a little more closely and feeling as if she could ask.

"What's worth tequila?"

((ooc: Thanks!))

Sam smiled a bit more, in a self-deprecating kind of way. "I'm a glutton for punishment sometimes." He said, unsure of how else to put it.

Inara was in the mood for some refreshment, so she headed for the bar. Perhaps she could get a glass of sweet wine or even just some unpolluted water. It would be nice to just have that cold, sharp taste pouring down her throat.

As she walked into the glassed-off area, her eyes lit on the back of a girl, walking away. She seemed quiet, almost distracted, and against her will, Inara was interested. But then her attention shifted to the shape at the bar, and she smiled. "Sam?"

Sam was considerably... more intoxicated by the time Inara graced him with her presence. "Inara, Hey." He smiled widely at her. He was warm with the buzz and thrum of liquid courage by now. Not sloppy-drunk, but certainly less uptight than he normally could be.

She supposed she couldn't blame this hotel for driving men to drink, from what little she'd seen, but still. Inara raised an eyebrow. Sam didn't look that inebriated, but she knew he wasn't sober. He looked a little like Mal, and she had to shove that out of her mind before pressing on. "Enjoying your evening?" She hoped she didn't sound judgmental; everyone was allowed to conduct themselves how they saw fit, at least until they were fresh with her.

"Not really." Sam said, he shrugged. "I mean it's not that big of a deal I just uh... needed a drink." He said, or several, whatever. It wasn't often he really drank unless something was digging at him a little, like it was now.

Alice had been spending more time in the bar lately. She liked the surroundings, and she didn't have to drink. More people seemed to visit the bar than any place else, which made logical sense.

She took her book with her, pushing the doors open to do a quick scan of the room.

"Sam?" Alice ran over to where he was at the bar, setting her book on the stool next to him. "Are you okay?"

"Hey Alice, I'm fine." He said sucking down his drink and getting another refill. Okay not exactly, but he'd done enough whining for the night.

"Of course you are. You smell like you've been fermenting along with the cactus." She wrinkled her nose and sat down next to him. "Promise me your next one will be water?"

"I promise." He said, although the bartender already refilled his glass so... "After this one."
