In the library (Open, Multiple Threads Welcome)

Nyssa was the sort of person that kept her fears, sadness and worries inside of her if she thought that they would upset those around her. This remained a part of her personality here at the Hotel California; She and the other residents were prisoners in a gilded cage and the (Eighth) Doctor's own concerns forced her to push her own back and ( Read more... )

Jack didn't like to leave unfinished things behind him. That fact brought him to the library again, to hunt up the books he'd previously used, and to go over themagain and maybe reach a workable design. He paused when he saw someone was already there- and ooh, she had calculations.

"Hello there." He grinned at her. "Mind if I join you?"

Nyssa looked up from her calculations when she heard someone else enter the library and she tucked a curl behind her ear and offered a smile in greeting. The smile only widened when he spoke.

"Not at all. Hello." She moved aside a few books from the chair near her and settled them on the table. "Have a seat."

"Thanks." Jack collected the books he'd abandoned before and brought them to the table. "Captain Jack Harkness. Charmed." He smiled again. Glancing at her calculations, he whistled. "Impressive. Let me guess...either a genius or not from Earth?"

"You're welcome, of course. I was about to go mad with only myself answering back." She smiled. "Both, actually. I'm Nyssa. Nyssa of Trraken. It's a pleasure, Captain. And from your words I take it you've experience with things not from Earth?"

Book in hand, one purely for leisure (he could do some research later, or perhaps put the finishing touches on his sonic screwdriver even) the Doctor entered the library. Almost doing a double take when he saw Nyssa. A few years older than when they'd parted but that was...well the Doctor had to admit he wasn't surprised.

"Nyssa?" A bright grin on his face despite the fact it meant that she too was trapped here.

That voice. Nyssa could have lived a hundred years and still that voice would ring in her mind. She knew it so well and her eyes pulled from her notebook to see if she was right (she knew she was...)

It was him and her face lit up. "Doctor!"

There was a moment that came and went before the Trakenite was on her feet and standing before the Time Lord. "Oh, he said there was another of you about. I didn't expect it to be you!"

His hearts leapt with joy when she got to her feet and the Doctor's arms enveloped Nyssa in an embrace. "He? I take it you've already met my Eighth self then?" He let go of Nyssa though his smile still as great, "who did you expect then?"

It felt strange to have his arms about her, but she moved to hold him with no complaints, only a great smile on her lips. "I have met him. A delightful fellow, really." Nyssa moved from the Doctor and tilted her head. "Another later incarnation, perhaps. Maybe earlier, before we had met. ...Perhaps even your Fourth self and his mile long scarf."

Daeron quietly walked into the library, brushing his fingers along the spines of books, either merely wandering or looking for some brief entertainment. He noticed the lady after a moment and gave her a polite nod. He did not recognize the machinery she had with her, but it did not bother him overmuch; little could, after deciding that he had met an alien in addition to finding another elf.

Nyssa looked up as she heard someone else enter the library and when he nodded she did as well with a little smile. "Are you finding everything all right?"

"Yes...though I admit I wasn't looking for anything in particular." He glanced along the books once again. If loneliness was the first curse of immortality, boredom was a close second.

"Ah. Reading for leisure then." Nyssa said with an agreeable nod. "The library is rather magnificent, I am sure you will find something."
