Driving up Mulholland to one of the couple of spots that overlook the LA basin is actually pretty cool (especially at duskish/night), and if you're into Batman or B-movies at all you can drive up Bronson Dr to the caves that were used as the opening to the Batcave in the 1960s version (and hundreds of B-movie were filmed there/still are, also episodes of Star Trek). Not super exciting but still kind of fun to check out. Depends on if you have a car available though. There's also Griffith Park which is kind of a nice area, and there's an abandoned zoo there that you can walk around in the exhibits/enclosures.

The zoo is a little complicated to find but there are people who've written up directions on the internet and those are pretty easy to follow.
