My mission: find things to like about LA, changing 20+ years of "ugh" into "yes!"
Here's the scoop: work is paying me to go to Los Angeles. I will have 2 days before and 2 days after some meetings near the convention center.
No Disneyland. It's high season and runneth over with hideous small children and their even more ill-mannered parents. Not worth the extra drive. No Universal City either (filed under "Giant Tourist Trap")
LA is my least favorite city to visit, an endless sprawl of urban blight. I'd like to see it differently, perhaps even with affection.
So far, I've been directed to Manhattan Beach for walk/skate/run/nibble along the Oceanside rec trail. Breakfast cafe there also recommended.
Now, what else?
