Essay: Arts Patronage and Game Development

Nov 23, 2008 16:10

Apologies to those of you who read my games blog, but I just spent half a day researching and writing a short essay on the patronage model of art "publishing" and game development. It was inspired by my discovery this morning of Wolfgang Baur's Open Design series of pencil and paper RPGs, so I think it might be an interesting read for those of you into PnP games as well.

My essay is here. (Or it'll be soon appearing on the Tiny Subversions LJ feed, for those who like the safety and comfort of LiveJournal.)
