I dont think anyone will be surprised that I write a post talking about how fucked up the country is now that we re-elected bush... because anyone that knows me knows im a pompous ass and a sore loser...
I would say though that im glad there was no election fraud this time like there was in Florida last year.. Bush actually won an election without disenfranchising blacks and stealing the election. Even though that was a very anti-bush statement.. I was essentially saying congratulations.. because he did win the election fair and square..
Regardless, I still feel I have to right to bitch. This election was a complete disaster for America. This was the election that was supposed to empower the youth. Make them feel like they were actually involved in the democratic process. The one that made teens and twenty-somethings feel that their votes actually meant something. Instead.. The religious right, the most hateful, ignorant, most embarrassing inhabitants of our sad country come out like the plague which they themselves fear so much and re-elect the man who will lead this country into more poverty, strife, and shame. Just to clear this up, Im not saying that everyone who voted didn't have their votes counted. The youth vote did make a difference. What Im saying is that every new voter that came out this year had their vote cancelled out by some conservative jesus freak who has been "sent on a mission from god" to protect the insanity that is George Bush's presidentcy.
Now that Bush has been re-elected we have much to look forward to. We have both houses of congress controlled by a republican majority. We have up to four supreme court appointments which Bush will possibly decide. Thus the American people can look forward to challenges against Roe v. Wade and a constitutional ammendment banning gay marriage. Make no mistake about it, our country's leader has been chosen by the religious right, they rule the country now, and the seperation of church and state is all but dissolved. Faith based initiatives, prayer in school, all of these are now possibilities with the recent elections. Never have I been more embarrassed to be an American..
We now have an overwhelmingly religious president with a majority congress and no possibility of re-election, what is stopping him from altering our constitution and erroding the very foundations of our country? Nothing...
God Help Us ;-)
