Didn't realize that I have a thing for scents. I stopped with the home scents when I started having babies. It was a fire hazard thing. I gave up on candles and also that expensive "lampe" that I got as a present. But now, I've rediscovered my love for home scents.
I will never forget the scent of ylang-ylang. It is the most fragrant during dusk. I first experienced it when I was a guest of the Lacson family in Bacolod during my F shoot. Mrs Lacson had ylang-ylang trees in her garden and I couldn't get over how beautiful it smelled. It was really sweet but it didn't last long. She gave me a little tree cutting which I brought back to Manila. Patrick and I weren't married yet and I had no property of my own, I was living in a condo. So I gave it to him and his house helper planted it near his (this) house. That was in 2001.

This is the ylang-ylang tree now. Fully grown and flowering. I don't get to appreciate it much because the old yaya actually planted it in the neighbour's property. Grrr...

But whenever my dad stays with us, he goes out of his way to get me a few flowers so I could bring the scent into the house. Such a lovely scent.
We are now trying to find a way to grow some "cuttings" so that we can plant some trees in the little part of the earth that is now under my name. I don't have a green thumb. So this will require my mom and dad's talent and patience.

I found this bottled scent in Adora. I love these bottled scents with bamboo reeds. It's a lot safer, no fire or heat involved. But you still have to be careful and not spill the oil-based liquid as it could ruin the surface of wooden tables. In my case, my towel got into contact with a reed and it totally soaked through the towel. It's been 5 weeks and the towel still smells like this scent.

I have another bottle in our living room. This is a fancier scent - musky and woody.

Adora sent me these extremely luxurious candles from Etro. I light them for about one hour when I know I am going to be attentive. I also keep the wick short - 1/4 inch at the most. For safety.

This is another candle, in a can. Apparently the best and safest way to extinguish a candle like this is to put the tin/metal cover directly on top of the flame and seal the lid. I don't know why, but that's what the instructions said.
I'm also playing with linen sprays. But I'm very very picky and careful. Nothing oil-based because my Daphne linens will hate those. I'm partial to lavender and fresh scents for linens.
