Stella in a sling
Patrick and I had to run a quick errand yesterday. We were short of help at home so I couldn't leave the baby. So we took her with us. Just me, Pat and the baby. She stayed in the sling 99% of the time. It's a lot easier and more secure at this stage. I wore all my children in a sling. The baby feels tight and snug there. Plus I can even nurse her without anyone knowing. I got this sling when my 2nd daughter was born. I got it because it was all black. It's the Original Maya Wrap and it cost me over P3,000. Mahal. It came with a DVD for instructions (they're all on youtube now).
Second time we went out
I'm glad Stella likes the sling. I wear her all day at home. We also have the Baby Bjorn and I'm slowly easing her into it. In my experience, the sling/wrap gets harder to use when the baby has leg power. We will graduate into the Bjorn in a few weeks. Don't be like me though. No need to buy the expensive Maya Wrap. Now you can buy a sling anywhere for less than P1,000. Just make sure the O-rings are secure. Mine are made of metal. I'd be scared of the ones made of plastic.
In Cirebon, Indonesia
I went to Indonesia last year and saw these women carry their toddlers in slings. They all look so comfortable - mothers and children alike. They didn't even have O-rings. So I guess any good fabric is usable as slings. Just make sure you know how to tie securely. For amateurs like us, lets stick to the ones with instruction booklets.
Using the Combi Miracle Turn (as cargo cart for now).
I have to say that the Combi Miracle Turn (from Hobbes and Landes) is awesome! I love how all four wheels swivel. It makes maneuvering so much easier. And its so light. The baby loves it too. A newborn can use it. The handles can be swung over easily so that the seat faces you (instead of the front). For a good looking and well designed stroller, this was fairly priced. The other colours (different fabric but same exact mechanisms) are even lower priced. I'm glad we waited before getting baby gear. You won't really know what you'll use until you need them.
