It was nice having Cecilia under the same roof again, even if the circumstances were less than ideal. The first few nights she had stayed up in her bedroom, listening until her best friend had finally settled in for the night. The information kept running through her head but the pieces were so vague and misaligned. Daphne wouldn't allow herself to ( Read more... )

Ava had been enjoying the brief gap between leaving the last office and moving into the new since a lot of the burden fell to Daphne, but she was also looking forward to setting up her own space as she wanted. It was a good opportunity being part of this development, and she couldn't afford to waste it, any of it.

Looking up at the familiar voice, she offered Daphne a small smile. "Good morning, boss" She teased. "Welcome to the chaos that is sorting this move into some semblance of a working office."

Boss.... Daphne could definitely get used to that.

She was glad she had Ava here to work with. The two had clicked instantly in Paris when Ava had began her internship. Ava understood the business just as well as Daphne, with an incredible flair for high fashion and even higher price tags.

"The first thing I'm going to do is higher us a receptionist," she told her, frowning as she took in the extent of the chaos.

If there was one social thing Ava was particularly skilled at, it was manipulation, and that turned out to be a great help when it came to this career. The right words, promises, exchanges, and people were only too happy to help her. Daphne had been a great help in refining that skill into something that helped them with their work, so she was more than happy to take on this project with her, even if it was under her.

"I hate to be greedy, except where I really don't" She laughed softly, "but a good looking male receptionist would certainly make it more bearable." It would be no surprise to hear those words from Ava, who even in their time at the other office was known for her love of using men as needed.

She couldn't help but laugh. The two had clicked instantly, falling into a rhythm that worked. They were able to bounce ideas off of each other, building until they had something fantastic.

"Having a gorgeous tall, dark, and handsome around to fetch coffee and take messages for us would make the long hours a little bit more worth it," Daphne agreed. Really, there was no reason not to go that route. Another female would just get in their way.

"I'll try not to break this one either. It wouldn't do to have to go hiring new receptionists every few months. I make no promise about a little light use if the occasion comes up though." Ava winked, her files completely forgotten for the moment. "I also promise to take the blame if your as-good-as-fiance-boyfriend asks how you ended up with something nice to look at while you work." She would never understand how Daphne let herself get tied down so easily and so early. Terry was nice to look at.... very nice, but one man, for all these years? Situations like this with the receptionist.... such a waste.

"I appreciate your sacrifice, on both fronts," Daphne told her, grinning. It was true that Ava could break a man's heart in the first five minutes of meeting her. But Daphne still had a trick or two of her own. Being tied down didn't mean she couldn't still make men do exactly what she wanted.

"I wonder how long you can actually go before breaking his spirit."

She paused, pretending to think over Daphne's question.... "How long before I get to him, or how long before he realises I got to him? I'm not above playing sweet and nice and naive to prolong the fun." The sparkle in her eyes showed Ava genuinely enjoyed the games she played.

"As long as he isn't too love sick to make a proper cup of coffee, deal?" Daphne reminded her, grinning.

She looked around at the mess around them and shook her head. It seemed absolutely endless. And right in the middle of their waiting area was a big empty desk that needed filling.

"I can't believe this needs to be sorted and we have Draco's big event."
