It was nice having Cecilia under the same roof again, even if the circumstances were less than ideal. The first few nights she had stayed up in her bedroom, listening until her best friend had finally settled in for the night. The information kept running through her head but the pieces were so vague and misaligned. Daphne wouldn't allow herself to jump to unnecessary conclusions but needed answers. Tippy had gathered as many books as she could find on tracking spells but, with out the wand that cast it, Daphne wasn't sure if she'd be able to reverse it.
Still, it was easy to fall back into a routine together. They liked the same foods, the same wine, and even the same muggle television shows. She had missed their girl nights at Hogwarts, cuddling into the same sofa together by the fire with a copy of Witch Weekly and Vogue while sipping from stolen bottles of champagne. Life was simpler back then, before they were forced to choose a side.
Daphne had never wanted to take the Mark. She never wanted to become another solder in the great War. But she would have followed her family blindly, as she had done her entire life. That was, of course, until Terry had come into the picture. He had shown her that she could be her own person, design her own life with out the burden of blood duty and their expectations for her. So Daphne bowed out, taking a step back from her family and the War. She hadn't gone running to Dumbledor or his army. She wasn't a girl looking to fight for a side - she just didn't want to fight at all. This wasn't her war, no matter how hard they tried to drag her into it.
The memories flooded back to her as she checked in on Cecilia Tuesday morning. Daphne had to force herself out of the house and back into the office, even if her mind would be back at her flat with Cessy until she returned. There was still too much to do. Over the weekend she had hired a company to move her out of her temporary, cramped office and into her the new space. The furniture had been picked out and delivered the day before as well. Now, all there was left to do was actually organize her files and get ready for Draco's big event that weekend.
She headed into the living room and stepped into the fireplace, happy that she had connected the office to the network when she purchased. It really did make life so much easier for both her and her clients. When Daphne stepped into her private office, there were boxes everywhere. The double doors were wide open, giving a clear view into the lobby area and into the secondary office. She was pleased to see Ava had already arrived, sorting through her own files.
"Good morning, darling," Daphne greeted, straightening out her blouse as she approached.
