Your Lucrezia thoughts are perf, I can add nothing.

and best of all, he's not doing it to compensate, not trying to make himself a villain to make up for the lack of love he gets from his father or whatever trope you will. It's because that's what's most efficient.
Yesssssssssssss. I like how Cesare was always so stone-cold and in control in nearly all areas of his life (EXCEPT LUCREZIA #REASONS WHY OTP). He was the antithesis of Juan's impulsiveness -- he didn't lash out, he just compartmentalised.

And I totally feel your "who the fuck is Cesare Borgia" feels. He was truly a mystery. I think it's because he always put a lot of effort into keeping everything inside of him locked down, probably because he learned early on that he is the least loved child and no one would have any patience for the alternative. And my incest heart wants to say that it was also because the thing he wanted most in the world was forbidden to him, so it was wiser never to give too much away.

OMG AS IF YOU'RE NOT TEMPTED BY LEATHER PANTS. That is like my #1 kink for both men and women tbqh.

Cesare's lack of remorse over Juan is lol. I think that's down to the compartmentalising, though. Juan was a threat, he needed to go. Whatever love Cesare might ever have had for him was less significant, and regret after the fact would be useless.

re: everything Cesare/Lucrezia -

Dude, yes to how important it was that they always genuinely LIKED each other and made each other happy (up until the end, anyway). It's weird how one of the most taboo, fucked up ships on television were also sometimes the fluffiest thing in the land. IDEK. Not that I GAF about fluffiness but what was really crucial was that they were each other's best friend. Leave me to myself.

~LOL forever @ Neil Jordan initially not intending to *go there* incest-wise.
lol, what. Never gonna believe that.

omg yeeeeees to the incest-fucking being restrained? Their sex scene wasn't any filthier than any of the sex the show's done before, and their relationship didn't take over the season the way it could have (and that I would have lapped up lbr). Can't believe people thought they'd be ruined by canon.

The lack of Giulia is my one regret about S3. Why would you shaft that face.

and he had the JAUNTIEST hats.
Fair point.

Fashion advice BrOTP for the win (speaking of, come on, Cesare. When do you ever wear ANYTHING but black? Fool.).
I am totally blanking about this. WHEN DID CESARE ASK MICHELETTO FOR FASHION ADVICE? OMFG. THEM.

O M F G GIOFFRE. I AM FUCKING DYING. (I suppose he got shipped off somewhere for political reasons???)

Why is that toaster strudel quote so relevant for Cesare's face.

I'm imagining you as your cat now. Seems accurate.

I WANT TO MARRY THIS WHOLE PARAGRAPH. Compartmentalization is my jam, yo. Sometimes I think Cesare and I are quite similar. And sometimes he sets people on fire and has sex with his sister and I think lol no you are perfect Cesare but no.

WAIT THIS PARAGRAPH TOO I WANT TO MARRY THIS ONE. Because I am obvious, I fucking love the whole least loved business, but more than anything, I love the way it does and doesn't affect him. It governs how he behaves but he never lets it really hit him the way pretty much anyone else would. Something I love so dearly about Cesare is that he is simultaneously ridiculously impulsive and yet also so utterly non-self-indulgent. It's such a glorious contradiction.

OMG AS IF YOU'RE NOT TEMPTED BY LEATHER PANTS.

ONLY IN THE RAREST AND MOST WONDROUS OF CIRCUMSTANCES. And this was one of them. I love how Cesare was traipsing about in his Prince of Darkness outfit 90% of the time while he was still a cardinal. Also, I remember after s1, I think it was TWoP? That had a poll about the best inanimate prop on a TV show, and Cesare's leather pants was an option. I approved wholeheartedly.

Whatever love Cesare might ever have had for him was less significant, and regret after the fact would be useless.

File this under "Reasons Why Favourite," basically. I am always so fascinated by the relationship between Cesare and Juan. I go back and forth between thinking that Cesare loved Juan once and just lost it, or that he never loved him at all. I don't know which scenario I prefer, tbh.

It's weird how one of the most taboo, fucked up ships on television were also sometimes the fluffiest thing in the land.

RIGHT?? THEY WERE SO FUCKING CUTE. But really, that's why this ship worked so well. It wasn't just 'incest for shock value!' It was that, against all odds and despite some truly bad luck and unfortunately matching DNA, they really were the best partner for the other. Ughhhh, OTP forever I WILL NEVER RECOVER.

Can't believe people thought they'd be ruined by canon.

DID they? Lol, what. They were perfection. Oh, and in case I was unclear on my comment @ yours, I did like the restraint. For *leer* reasons I could have done with more boning, but the handling of their relationship, especially the way the sex didn't overshadow the Cesare/Lucrezia of it all, was wonderful. Few shows could pull that off.

GIULIA'S FACE, THO. I don't even get it, man. Those eyes.

Nah, bro, it was Machiavelli with the fashion advice, not Micheletto. Micheletto thinks Cesare looks good in everything. I was referring to that scene when Cesare runs into Machiavelli in France and Mach instructs him to wear black instead of fancy silk because the French mistrust Italian wealth. Basically, those two are cute. I am easy.

GIOFFRE THO, RIGHT? Like, I could forgive them forgetting about him, if not for all the comments with Rodrigo going "Woe to me I have but one son left!" Poor Gioffre. It's like your dad forgetting your birthday. The original birthday.

CESARE + TOASTER STRUDEL QUOTE IS RELEVANT TO MY HAPPINESS. Though, lbr, Cesare is more Regina George. Micheletto is Gretchen Wieners. I think Rodrigo is Karen? Discuss.
