This might be my last post here.
I find myself wishing I journaled more, but also feeling the laptop as a barrier.
I don't want to be on a computer anymore than I already am at work, especially not early in the morning or late at night. The sense of community I had on lj has long gone, and the one or two folks that were left aren't really active anymore (and to be fair, nor am I). I have always been comfortable typing and I enjoy flicking back or searching old entries, but the experience for me is technical and output-driven, not emotional.
I'm seeking the connection that comes with pen & paper and the truth of imperfection. The Stoic idea of writing in a journal is about clearing one's head, and the time I spend -- even in this post -- typing, deleting, editing and re-editing inhibits the natural flow that I'm looking for to centre myself.
So this year I will be writing out my goals in a notebook, and I will use that notebook to write the thoughts that occur to me in those twilight hours. I will use a pen for my meditations and ruminations, scratching and flowing naturally until they make sense to me, rather than crafting the words to make sense for others.
I'll see how it goes for this year. I might be back, but for now, farewell.
