Spring Clean and more

Have had a busy weekend. Second time being on call for work, and was dealing with stuff all of yesterday, whilst at the same time going to the dentist/hygeinist for the first time in several years, then buying groceries, then tidying the house with the wife away. Thankfully work was sorted by this morning. (Really glad I went to the dentist btw, naughty of me to let that slip. Note to self: floss more.)

On top of doing laundry today, I finally got around to clearing out the kitchen cupboards, and I'm about to oil the worktops. There really is nothing like a good spring clean, but there is so much more to do. First on the list is a serious clear-out and tidy of my wardrobe and shelves, followed by a big trip to the charity shop. Hopefully next weekend (and get some replacement plant pots at the same time).

Our house debt is just about paid off, after which I need to get our front window sanded and painted urgently. Hope to do the loft this year as well. Not sure we'll manage it this year but it would also be nice to get a new bed. Get started on the bedroom with a nice bed and we need a new mattress anyway. Since the house is livable we should be able to save then spend, rather than do a big chunk at once on credit.

Seems we're partly in an 'asset refresh' phase. Things are starting to be replaced, not sure if it is happening all at once or if we're just noticing because we both have a bit more free cash. My headphones fell apart last week, so I've just bought some new IEMs (I do think it's been over 5 years, I can go back and look). Our computer is about to just stop working, which will put some pressure on the above aspirations in re the house. (almost walked out of the Apple store with an iPad after the dentist - glad I didn't it won't really cut it on its own) I've got suits and shoes now, but I need to replace several shirts and ties. At some point we need a nice stereo too, our little portable is on its last legs.

In terms of goals for Q1, still doing so-so. Down to just over 11st, but I think that's due to poor living rather than good, more smoking, long hours, etc. Having a hard time managing one cycle to work a week at the moment, let alone two. Pilates has fallen by the wayside- the wife hasn't liked any teachers in the area. I'd like to try a Reformer class on weekends before going back to our old teacher (who is totally amazing but far away and only does midweek). Work is going well, so to speak. I'm certainly in the office more, much more productive and motivated, and generally enjoying it. Worked 60+ hours last week (not including the on-call) which is tiring, but noticed. As for wine, I went to a tasting just last week as it happens. That one doesn't feel like quite as much effort. :)

(still need to write about Thailand and birthdays...)
