To be honest the article about the origins of the internet did not interest me too much. The beginning interested me and reminded me of this site I found:
Click hereThis site let's you see what the computer is thinking. Well... back to the subject. I could not understand all the technical jargon, but I at least got the main idea.
Something came to my attention while we were discussing the subject of scholars vs. bloggers. Where everyone can write useful or useless information and it stays for generations to come. One thing I found interesting was that a friend of mine played a video game that had referenced this subject. The main antagonist is a secret organization that has plans to control the world, through a series of blackmail and other methods. This way they could also control information. The problem is that the invention of the internet has created a flaw in their plan. Before, information could be controlled, where history could be written to their liking. i.e. Why are there 26 letters in the alphabet, why couldn't it be 27 or more? Since the video game influenced to thinking that the only to win was to "find in something I believe in and stand up for it." This statement is contradicts to what I was suppose to do, since I'm believing in something a video game character said.

A good point was brought up, "what kind of readers are being created as a result of this?" If we are too constantly question everything we see what is the result? Over the summer my friend found this website "Loose Change" Me and my friend discussed whether or not this site was even real. He fully support their claim, but since I had basic civil and mechanical engineering knowledge, I thought this site was misleading and picks the information they want to hear. We argued from many hours, but he refused to believe me.
Click here I guess what I'm saying is on one hand if only have historians control the flow of information, what would happen to free speech? Or if we let people go around writing things they believe in, how far would they go? Which side would you choose, because the information you write now may or may not influence future generations.
