1) Staying up very late to watch a Vh1 documentary on the history of sexuality in the U.S. with Amy and Casey. I wish I'd had more time to study those things in college, because during all the commercials we would have brief, intense intellectual discussions of everything we just saw or I'd fill in some of the gaps in history and theory that the show left open, and it made realize how much I enjoyed learning and theorizing about these things. And I couldn't believe how much I'd retained from Lit. and Sexuality, Sex and Popular Culture, and all those other cultural diversity and sexuality studies classes. I enjoyed rehashing all those ideas so much, and especially because Amy and Casey come at them from such a different perspective than I do, which always illuminates things differently for me.
2) New painting! It's the most abstract I've allowed myself to go, though there is clearly still something clear in the painting, but I really like how simple it is while still telling a story.
3) Watching UFC with Casey and getting legitimately excited about it. That one guy Junie on the new Ultimate Fighter season is hysterical. His trash talk is superb. "Knocking me out? He's got a better chance of getting me pregnant." HILARIOUS!
4) Lots and lots of guitar jammin'. I really am getting better, and last night I taught Casey some new chords and we had both our guitars out at the same time and played a little of his very high song together, which sounded super cool. And the tips of my fingers are officially callused enough that I feel like a real musician.
5) Mall shopping with AMY! I desperate needed khakis and not-short pants for work and life, and after failing to find anything at four different resale shops, I caved and went to the mall. Amy agreed to come, which I think totally saved me from getting enraged at all pants everywhere and actually enjoy shopping for them. I ended up getting four great trousers from Aeropostale for only $70! Yay bargains, and they all fit me great! Amy got a very, very cute purple and white striped button-up from American Eagle which looks really terrific on her. Very flattering colors and cut. I kept walking by all the shoe stores and aching for new boots, so we agreed to make our next trip and bag and shoe shopping excursion. Excited! The mall in Brentwood is massive, which is really great because I missed stores like Aero, AmEagle, and the Gap. It just had no directories anywhere, so we had to carry a map with us just to find our way around. Weird. Now I just need to find an Old Navy out here, and I'll be set for life.
