Yesterday, I met Gregory Maguire.
If the man wasn't the creator of Elphaba, I think I would have put sparklies on that.
ANYWAY, he signed my book and I asked him two questions (What's up with Liir's name? and What's the deal with Cherrystone?) and got two very very awesome answers. And he totally gave me the smile on the second one, you know, that one that says 'hey, you were paying attention and you noticed something and that's awesome' and I totally felt like a million dollars as pathetic as that is.
He's really very funny, very nice, and he did a reading which was hilarious. It actually got Sherri to pick up a copy of Wicked to get signed and to try and read; I've been trying for years.
He signed my book; I had to buy another copy of Son of a Witch (well, of all three, which one did you THINK I would want him to sign?) to get it signed (OH BOO HOO I HATE HAVING MULTIPLE COPIES OF THAT BOOK OMG). And I told him that it was my favorite and I totally got the whole different character = different story and he also seemed to smile at that which made me woobly.
And yes. Maguire. Met. Creator. Of books. That I love. *squeeble* I think I bounced clear home.
