Day 17 ~ Someone from your childhood

Feb 12, 2011 11:24

Let me think, well, hmmmm.

There is Mrs. Weiss. She was my teacher in 5th grade. For those who know me closely know that I really hated school when I was younger. The public school system here in Baltimore is absolute shit and that's saying something! But my mom managed to get me into a private christian school and that's when I met Mrs. Weiss. I loved her so much, no matter what school or grade I always had issues in math; but my math improved greatly under her teaching. And beyond that, I began to have a greater appreciation for education when I was in her class. She was so nice and patient with me (I admit I probably wasn't always the easiest student to deal with. lol), and also she was one of the few people in my life that I can honestly say believed in me and my potential. She never gave up on me even when I was more than ready to just fail and deal. That meant alot to me. Mom says that Mrs. Weiss was probably the best teacher I've ever had. I agree.

Afew years ago I found out from another old classmate that Mrs. Weiss had taken over as principal of Baltimore Christian School. We had wanted to invite her to our high school graduation but I left that high school to be homeschooled so IDK if she ever came or not. I thought I had saw her afew weeks ago on my way home from jury duty. IDK if she would recognize me now. I am somewhat ashamed I didn't finish school the traditional way but I would want her to see that I DID make it. I'm now in college perusing my dreams and I partially owe it to her. I wouldn't mind going back to BCS for a day or so, just to see her.

Yours Jasmine
