1. I've been reading my way through Ashok K. Banker series of novels which are a retelling of the Ramayana in novel form. How come I never knew of the existence of 2007 English-language miniseries adaptation of War and Peace? I need to get my hands on it asap. I don't think it will be as amazing as the 1960s Soviet adaptation (because how could it be? Also, hearing the characters speak English will be pretty odd) but W&P is my total weakness. Is this Russian song (the title, translated is "if there hadn't been a war"). It makes me think of one of my great-aunts, who was married to her husband for a month, until he went off to fight in WW2 and was killed. She never remarried.

You cannot possibly imagine my shock when ep 4 of I Am Legend had the characters do a Korean cover of a famous Russian song Million Roses, sung originally by Alla Pugacheva (the story of the song about a painter who sold all he owned to buy the object of his affection a million roses).
