Am currently learning how to hardsub. Am a geek but it's exciting. Let's see if it works. I also need to figure out which format I need to convert avi files into in order to make them DVD compatible. Any tips? (because it gives me different formats for output files but I don't know which one is DVD compatible). (Though I guess I might just spring for a DVD player that plays avi files, but still, want to know).
In other news. Yup, still on The Outsiders.
The thing is Hong Do is spot on in telling her she should try to be open with Ah Hao (not about the rape of course) and talk about 'flowers and piano' like she used to. That way Ah Hao won't be looking for shadows of Yu Yen everywhere, he'd have the real thing. But I love the look on YY's face when Hong Do says that. How can she be that simple happy girl again? She can't, not after that night when Bao Ge ripped all her innocence from her.
Also, how heartbreaking is it that Ah Hao is thinking YY might be happier/more compatible with Danzi. And he is worried because, always, he wants what's best for YY. Mainland girl of course, when he seeks reassurance that YY would pick him, doesn't do it but instead confirms his fears. *stabs the evil cat*
But OMG, Yu Yen tries. She tries. And it's the most awesome, sweetest scene ever. She is repainting the piano they painted a long time ago and he comes home and sees it and I love how he can't believe it and he is sort of hopeful and nervous at once because he is afraid it doesn't mean what he thinks it means, and she tells him she is painting and she offers to play for him and mock-teasingly orders him not to laugh during the concert and OMG OMG. The adoration with which he looks at her?
I am so DEAD.
(And the thing is, there all sorts of things of really high-stakes complicated things going on, but when she is her old self, he can relax and be happy no matter what).
And here are some pics from that part.
Seeing her come home with Danzi:
Yet another one of their non-communications, when he tells her he thinks she might have been better off with Danzi:
(and OMG, I think he thinks that as a failure, with her and for her)
When he is with Xiao Die (mainland girl) he is so reminded of Yu Yen:
Telling Xiao Die his and YY's story and seeking reassurance that YY would pick him and not be better off with Danzi:
OMG, he is trying to potect her when they find her cousin dead (I love how Hong Do is all 'oh no, this is going to get emotionally messy' when she sees him so wrought):
Hong Do, obliquely talking about her own guilt in letting Yu Yen get raped (though of course it was no one's fault but Bao Ge's):
Poofy shirts!
Hong Do giving Yu Yen some hard-headed advice about being warm to Ah Hao:
And trying to get at least her external innocence back, even if nothing internally can be done:
OMG OMG OMG. Follows the scene where I died of the sweet. Yu Yen decides to take Hong Do's advice and to try to rediscover her old self and happiness. And the awesome part? It doesn't just make Ah Hao happy, it makes her joyful too. Here she is, deciding to freshen up that piano they painted on the wall:
Ah Hao comes home and can't believe his eyes and very cautiously asks her what's going on and she tells him and ohhhhhh, the sweetness. He is so happy with so little, really. And omg, for one brief blissful moment, they are back to their old selves.
She is mock ordering him about:
But he doesn't mind:
*I died because of the look on his face. (yup, lots of caps). He needs to be permitted to adore her even more than he needs to love her, if that makes any sense*
*omg*
AWWWW. Hand holding:
The secondary awesome OTP:
OK, seriously. They are evil but this is just funny:
Going off on 'business'
And telling Xiao Die bye who is thanking him and wants to invite the OTP to dinner (yup, as soon as he got the real thing back, the imitation goes back into the shop :))
ETA: OMG. I was going to post about all other sorts of things about the eps but.
sorry.
derailed.
He just found out about her rape.
askjglfjdhgshdjdkdkdskdkdjeirjfjskaksjd
OMG. She should have listened to Danzi who told her unless she is prepared to have someone kill Bao Ge, she better tell she was raped to Ah Hao herself because there is nothing to hold Bao Ge back now that he got rid of the big boss and wanting to wreck Ah Hao was probably one of the reasons he got rid of the boss anyway.
I can see why she didn't want but... She gets knocked over by speeding flunkie of Bao Ge and he almost flips (because he can't bear the smallest hurt to her) and goes hunting them down and oh oh oh no oh oh oh oh. And then the whole thing happens.
My stomach is literally hurting. He puts a gun to Bao Ge's head because his flunkie almost ran YY over and Bao Ge can tell he means business and he is all 'if you kill me, my men take revenge, and who will protect your YY'
And then when Ah Hao says as long as he is alvie,no one will harm YY Bao Ge finally snaps and yells the truth about the past, how five years ago one of his men raped Yu Yen and that is why Danzi went to jail to cover it up and I love that Ah Qi knows his best friend so well, he yells his name super worried because OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG.
Ah Hao literally staggers back, and he drops his gun, and he literally cannot stand, he falls on his knees and OMG OMG OMG OMG. He looks destroyed.
And he is driving home, like a complete erratic maniac, and crying, and he gets home and OMG the scene with him and Yu Yen just...
just...
OK. I am not crying, I am not.
And he gets out of there, like a maniac again, because he can't stand the guilt and horror and is getting really drunk somewhere and it's not helping and all he keeps thinking are the times when he did something or said something that hurt her because of her rape trauma and he didn't know it, and he is thinking he is better off dead and it's his fault he was at home that night etc etc. And he seriously doesn't know how to deal with it, he is like some crazy animal in a trap, with the physicality and yeah.
Not fun.
And poor poor Yu Yen. All that sacrifice for nothing. And when she explains that she hid it because she didn't want him to be hurt too? That must be the worst for him. And also, OMG, he joined the mob to protect her and because of it she was raped.
And here are some pics.
Seeing the mob usurped by Bao Ge:
Finding out Yu Yen got injured slightly and freaking and deciding to go after Bao Ge and flunky:
HELL. Bao Ge, who sees he will be shot anyway, finally loses it and gloats to Ah Hao how he had his 'most precious woman' raped and Ah Hao couldn't protect her. And you see Ah Hao literally not be able to process or how to react or anything because he's been subsumed by pain and rage utterly:
And his knees buckle and Bao Ge walks away
And he drops his gun (which so failed to protect the one thing in the world he wanted to protect):
Yu Yen is told Ah Hao found out and the friends are at her house to help out (ummm, lots of caps. Dylan Kuo looks hot al sweet but even hotter super angsty and distraught):
Yu Yen comes out:
And tells him the truth:
Trying to drink himself into oblivion:
I don't know if I can bear to watch more.
