I have a lot to blab about with Kurosagi which I finished and the cheesetastic Millionaire's First Love, but for now: if you like Bollywood even a little bit, GO SEE JAAN-E-MANN.
I just from Jaan-e-mann. It's almost 2 am here, so a long review will have to wait until tomorrow, but the long and the short of it is: I LOVED IT.
It's the best time I had at the movies in a good long while and is my number 4 Bolly movie this year, behind Fanaa, RDB and Omkara (and none of those three were a barrel of laughs). So delicious and delightful and tongue in cheek and not like any other Bolly movie I've seen. But it has what I couldn't find in Don: heart. In fact, while I have no desire to see Don again, I am already scheming how to make it to the theater again for Jaan-e-Mann.
Oh, and while a proper review is for later: Oh my God. SALMAN. Totally amazing. He really made this movie and I think this is (with Tere Naam, though that movie is quite different) his best performance yet. And a first: this is the first movie where I didn't hate a single piece of clothing her wore. Plus, he was dealing with a baby. And speaking English. OMG. Seriously, the man is FINE. Was drooling like a giddy teenager (and there was screaming in the audience when Salman first appeared so I wasn't the only one).
I mean, how can anyone not love a movie with a space scene, dancing midgets, mentions of hara-kiri, Salman doing Riverdance, and bagpipes is beyond me.
I giggled, I sniffled, I drooled. Jaan-E-Mann to Bollywood as Ouran High School Host Club to anime. If you don't know much about Bollywood, you'll probably enjoy it OK. But if you are a Bolly nut, you will be on the floor.
Guuuuh. Must watch it again really soon. And write a proper review.
klmorgan will back me up. Best. Thing. Ever.
Driving back and blasting Mars soundtrack felt pretty good, too.
