Kurosagi: can it get better? Yes it can

Oct 28, 2006 00:36

I've watched eps 6-8 of Kurosagi and kitsune714, you are right, it does get even better. Amazingly so.

I have never hated a dorama character as much as I hate Yukari. What a ridiculous shallow bitch! I mean, Domyouji's mother is Satan, but at least she is clever and ambitious. And Hikaru's Mom is 'Forbidden Love' is a dingbat but is also a sad sad woman.

Yukari is a spoiled shallow brat that has no excuse. The feeling I have for her is similar to the feeling I have for Fushigi Yuugi's Yui. Simpering, useless excuse for a person.

I mean, it's not like Tsurara stole your bf. She likes a guy you barely know and he runs from you. If he wasn't a crook, he'd get a restraining order against you. Not to mention, she is completely wrong for Kurosaki. He doesn't need a yes woman. He needs someone who will really argue and give him what he needs and not what he wants. Heck, the annoying one wishes him 'Happy Swindling!' UGH. She can't see the whole thing is destroying his humanity. You can't understand him because you don't know him. HATE.

She is a cheerful dingbat bitch. UGH. When she deliberately poured that glass of wine over Tsurara who was working? UGH. Die die die. Please tell me someone stabs her in the face.

OK. Breathe.

Think of the adorable bit of Kurosaki randomly sticking his tongue out. And his love for ice-cream and chocolate. In some ways, he is still a kid and that's just sad.

And moving on the my obsession with this dorama: Kurosaki/Tsurara.

What is Our Hero's reaction to the girl who he clearly likes back telling him she likes him? A hug? An embarassed shuffle? Naaaaah. An eviction notice. The guy is clearly trying to keep everything in his closed off in order to go on with his mission and she's a threat to that.

And yes, ep 6 is even better than ep 5! Because we get hurt/comfort and...Oh. Yeah.

Please, please tell me there is fanfic for this. Preferably of NC-17 variety which consists of Kurosaki dragging Tsurara off to a corner somewhere.

Because Oh. My. God.

We get that scene of the cop whaling on him (and Old Man knows there is a collision course between them and he is enjoying it. Hate him) and he is basicaly collapsed in a heap and she sees it and she runs there and she physically interposes her body between the cop and him. OMG OMG OMG OMG.

And the cop leaves and she tries to help him get up and he says he is OK, let go of him, even though he can't even get up. He believes he has to be self-sufficient because otherwise when left alone (as he believes he inevitably will be), he'll falter. But she helps him up anyway and drapes his arm around her shoulder and helps him walk. And then he is in bed and she is putting cloth on his forehead and dabbing blood from him. OMG OMG OMG. This dorama is pushing all my kinks. This is probably the first time since his family died that anyone took care of him.

And she finds that picture of his his family with his face blacked out and the look on her face!

And then he gets up in bed, still out of it, still with the wet cloth on his forehead and there is the trademark locking gazes and spark and intensity and he tells her she asked him is he happy. And he continues that he doesn't need to be happy. Or friendship. Or love. Or cheap sympathy. So will she please leave? But of course he is so wrong. He needs it desperately. He has a singleminded passionate conviction of youth but hopefully when he is older...

And I love how she tells him sadness heals with time but the way he is acting is just going to trap him inside it.

Love.

And then we get ep 7 which is even higher on the OTP meter.

But first off, can I reiterate my hate of the Old Man? That flashback in the rain, with the recently bereaved Kurosaki running at him with the knife and then collapsing into a sad heap? And Old Man looking at him as one would look at a bug?

When OM later tells Tsurara that Kurosaki chose to be a swindler I want to hit him across the face. Yeah, totally. Someone who is in shock, griving and 15 is definitely of sound mind for purposes of deciding this.

The scene that makes this episode is (as so often) the final scene.

Because Tsurara put two and two together and found out that OM is the one who sells Kurosaki info. And she asks him to stop. And OM goes 'I didn't want you to hate me yet' (that 'yet' creeps me the hell out) and she replies she doesn't hate him. And then OM says she should because he is responsible for the swindle that resulted in the death of Kurosaki's family.

And Tsurara is now crying in earnest because only now she is realizing how sick this whole set-up is and she goes 'how can you sell him information?' and he just says 'sorry' and she goes 'you killed his family' and meanwhile, Kurosaki has come in unnnoticed and he hears that. And then Tsurara's legs give out and she collapses on the floor, and she is begging OM to please stop, to free Kurosaki from all the pain. And the look on Kurosaki's face as he sees it. And then OM looks up and sees Kurosaki. And there is a challenge in Kurosaki's eyes and even though he knows he should never show any humanity or weakness in front of OM, he deliberately walks to Tsurara and he raises her up very quietly and tenderly and then he does that hug-not-hug thing I've seen in a billion vids, while putting info fee on the counter.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!

Ep 8.

And Tsurara finally decided to move out. But she doesn't have enough money so she is saving and starving and working another job. And I love the look on Kurosagi's face as he finds out from Yukari-bitch that Tsurara is planning to move out. You can tell, though he is trying to conceal it, he is badly shaken up by it. The longer he is with her, the harder it is to conceal his feelings.

And OMG. He tells her she doesn't have to move out as long as she stays out of his business. And he says it without her bringing anything up. That is such a huge step for him. That's like an equivalent of a marriage proposal from someone normal. OMG.

And he asks her to stop liking him. And OMG OMG OMG he is voluntarily sharing. He talks to her about the night he lost his family! 'Imagine your family is being killed in front of your eyes. Imagine the one doing the killing is also family. And you are helpless. Can you imagine that?' and he tells her that this whole thing isn't yet over for him. And she says she understands and starts to close her window. And his face is such a mixture of relief and disappointment. And then she pauses and says 'But. I just want you to know. You are not alone. There is someone who cares for you. Even if you get arrested somewhere. Even if you die far away, there is someone who cares for you.'

OMG. What did he ever did to be so lucky? To get all this amazing unconditional love (which is actually precisely what he needs as he lost that from his family). And he is silent and at a loss for words and then the camera zooms in on him and you see that his eyes are WET. Oh. Someone hold me.

There simply HAS to be fic out there. Please?

There is also the amazing scene when he comes home in the pouring rain and finds her sitting outside, hungry and despondent (it's after Yukari-bitch poured wine on her) and he gives her hos umbrella. I love that scene.

Old Man is freaking me out. He just might want to take Kurosaki out now that he is getting too efficient. And his comment to his assistant who points out that Tsurara knows too much? Kurosaki will take care of her and if he falters in his mission, then they both...and he swings a cleaver and chops off the heads of two fish he was holding. EEEEEEEK. I hate him and he freaks me the hell out. Please tell me he gets some kind of karmic come-uppance.

And then there is the neat parallel with the older swindler (to whom Kurosaki lost in a previous ep) and the woman who loves him.

I just love this dorama.
