Mmmmm. Kissing.

OK, yes, I am beyond spamming today. Apologies.

But I remember reading a discussion somewhere (was it at winterspel's LJ?) about how doramas don't really have good kisses, just little lip-pressing or similar, and that's certainly been true in my experience. At most you get a little peck and most of the time it's unmoving. No idea why that is but it is a bit ( Read more... )

doramas, kissing, a love to kill

There was a lot of discussion on kissing and all sorts of things associatied with it here. :) It's true, jdorama kisses are usually quick (or abominably long) pressed lip jobs, lots of times they are surprise kisses, and there is usually no reaction from either side in the lip department. They just stand there, connected by closed lips. *shudder* I'd almost rather the overt romanticism of Bollywood without the kissing to the cold fish kisses.

Takuya Kimura, when he has the chance, kisses really well (see him in the film 2046, but also, even though I don't like the dorama, Pride (very good kiss) and in the little I saw of One Million Falling Stars (one of his super angsty doramas), I saw a pretty blazing kiss, too. Lots of them are really lame, and we JE fangirls complain bitterly about Jin's awful kiss in Anego. Baaaad. Really bad.

It's very annoying! And of course I'm all hyped up about the kiss in tonight's Sapuri and hoping against hope that it will be good. ;)

I was reading all the replies and everything but kept getting sidetracked by the awesome pic-spam. Seriously, if it wasn't for the fact that I already have no time to sleep, I'd be downloading Sapuri now.

I have Pride on the line-up somewhere so will check out the kissing there. I am trying to figure out what is with the kissing thing. E.g. the first kiss in MnJ was gorgeous but the second? That can't be a kiss at all. Better not have one.

The Sapuri dl is out already so I might watch just the kissing to see for myself :)

I still have 8 hours left on my Sapuri dl. :'(

I heard that it looked good, but I don't want to be spoiled at all, so don't tell me if you see it before me for some reason.

The Pride kiss happens at the very end - the good one, anyway. There is a nice sexy scene in the middle as well, but the good kiss is all the way at the end.

I am unlikely to see it before you, as I am probably not going to get to it for days as Goong is all keyed up in the DVD player when I have time...

But I do hope it's good!

I also noticed the lack in kissing department in jdoramas - for example, in "Long Vacation" they either had lip-pressed kisses or few good kisses which were obsructed by the night-time and lights. Hmm! I second winterspel - Takyua Kimura had some lovely, lovely (though bleached by the unsuitable light ) kisses.

Actually, on thinking about it, I've actually realized that it's mora of a jdorama problem then a general dorama problem.

Out of three Korean ones I've seen any parts of, two of them have some hot kissing scenes (ALtK one above. Plus, Goong which I am watching right now has some serious open-mouth kissing there). And the Taiwanese ones aren't shy about kissing either. There is a MV of 'Mars' out there which is basically nothing but four and a half minutes of various kisses from the dorama, and Tokyo Juliet has not only kissing, but neck kissing and other stuff (and they aren't the only Tdoramas that have that, just the first two that come to mind). It seems to be a peculiarly Japanese thing. I wonder why.
