Majo No Jouken: initial thoughts

Aug 13, 2006 21:45

Started watching Majo No Jouken, after winterspel and ficchica's write-ups.

I am only about half an hour in, but this is on track of becoming my favorite jdorama. I really like Takizawa Hideaki who plays Hikaru. Actually, the first time I saw him, I was taken aback by how gorgeous he was. One of those times where you kinda have to keep looking to make sure your eyes are correct (though having that shot of him under the cherry tree was a bit of an overkill).

It IS pretty depressing though. I feel really bad for Michi, because her life really is bleak and meaningless, but I also want to yell at her to grow a spine. When she allows the students in her classroom to walk all over her, I feel horrible for her, but also puzzled. She is the teacher. She is supposed to smack (not literally) some sense into the snooty brats. When they tell her to shut up, tell them to shut up back. Get some authority. She seems like a little uncertain girl trapped in a grown-up's body.

I am a bit uncomfortable with the subject matter so far, but it is riveting. I really really love.
