WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let me reiterate, WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eleventy.
YES.
And because this news came after I already had a fannish post ready, I am actually combining the two :P
First off, I watched more Gokusen last night. I am up through ep 9 now. So freaking good.
OK, seriously, are they trying to make me love the boy more than I already do? Because it's working. He is ready to throw his future away to protect his sister? And he is good with kids? And he has a really cool smile? Yeah, I am sold.
I love the scene where he freaks out about his sister and then later ends up in jail and Yankumi visits him and it's all quite sad and he is being all noble and kinda young. Also, I really liked that at the end of that ep, his father (ugh!) comes and fetches him out of prison (he wasn't charged with anything but they couldn't let him go without a guardian since he is a minor and his father didn't even want to show up) but it's not as if the family takes him back or similar. That kind of character change in his father would be unbelievable.
Also, the bit with Shin being over at Yankumi's house to entertain the seven year old (as Shin is the only 'normal' person she knows who knows her secret) is priceless. especially when Yankumi loses her cool and reverts to yakuza form when talking to the kid and her underlings are termbling in their slippers and Shin goes 'Yankumi' to bring her out of it. Heeeeee. The fact that he later refers to her as a quasi-woman to his friends (they don't know it's about her) is even funnier.
Oh, and according to the Hana Yori Dango comm, where someone linked to an article from Yahoo Japan (which I can't read as it's in Japanese but I assume gives details), they are going to be making Hana Yori Dango 2 jdorama, the continuation of the HYD one that came out last year. Same cast and all. I am all for it but I do wonder what on earth they are going to do, story-wise, since even if they cut out 80% of what's happened in the manga due to time constraints, they ended up roughly in the same place as all the other adaptations: with Tsukushi finally developing and then realizing her feelings for Domyouji and letting him know. Yeah, he goes off to NYC to study and to come back later, but he did that at the end of the manga too. Hmmm. They can always put the rest in, of course, but the emotional pull will be different. Hmmm, I haven't read all of the manga so maybe she does admit it midway there or something.
I am also amused to realize that HYD will indeed never die, it seems. Heh. Also, for the love of all things good, I know the dreadful hair is canon, but while it looks half-way tolerable in the manga, on a live person it's terrifying. I mean, I am swooning all over the place for Jun's prettiness in Gokusen but watching HYD I kept going 'couldn't they get someone prettier?' I ended up liking him despite the looks. Please let him discover hair products in New York.
Oh, and I am eternally grateful to
winterspel. Thanks to her, I might finally get a handle on the downloading thing. With subtitles, even :) Haven't tried it yet but at least I don't feel as terrified of the prospect.
