First, everyone should go and join vm_spork. Really.

Secondly, Good lord. I ventured into the Alexandre Dumas section of ff.net and am now scarred forever. They are so bad I can't even summarize.

Choice examples of summaries:

It depends what you like, as there's an anime for just about everyone considering the sheer number there are.

If you like The X-Files or Supernatural, I suggest Witch Hunter Robin (which involves the very hot and very icy Amon that I've showed you before).

If you want an angsty space adventure I'd suggest Last Exile. Alex Rowe is a study in angsty alpha maledom.

If you like the Rurouni Kenshin series, I suggest Samurai Deeper Kyo, which is like Kenshin in reverse, as the hateful split personality is generally in charge most of the time. The manga of that one is actually better than the anime. Also if you like an even more serious version of Kenshin, there's Peacemaker, a gorgeous series that looks at that whole conflict and how severe the samurai codes actually were.

If you like horror Hellsing is one of the best anime out there, but completely irreverent and very bloody. Alucard is the only flat out insane character I've ever loved. There's also Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, the anime that got me into anime.

If you want doomed romance I suggest you wait for Basilisk, which is coming out this summer and is the ninja version of Romeo and Juliet.

If you like westerns there's Trigun (which has one of the most heartbreaking scenes in anime).

If you like to think a little, there's Wolf's Rain, which is gorgeous, if a little weird.

If you like a good angsty, action packed and occassionally hilarious anime, I suggest Cowboy Bebop, which is another one of the best anime out there.

What else do you like, because I can come up with the anime, I promise. LOL.

I haven't watched much anime, but I can second the recommendation for Cowboy Bebop. I love the series, and it has great music in it, too.

Husband likes Bebop too. I think Trigun sounds really good. So does Basilisk (angst!) and Peacemaker and Last Exile. Hmmm, where could I rent those?

Trigun is wonderful, one of my favorites. The American voices are really good in it as well, which isn't always the case (I generally prefer subs to dubs).

I was able to rent Peacemaker and Last Exile off of Netflix (which has a HUGE anime selection). Basilisk is licensed for American release this summer (it's already had it's Japanese run).

I personally think Peacemaker is very suited to you with its A.)pack of alpha males, B.)hard look at war and killing in general, C.)sweet romance between the main character and a mute girl who everyone knows will eventually become a low class geisha, D.)the doomed friendship of the main character and the apprentice of the man who killed his parents, E.)the truly gutwrenching series of events that happens when the only female the guys are exposed to on a normal basis, who is also a spy and ninja for them, gets caught (heartbreaking also because of the reaction of her stalwart brother) and F.)one of the main characters who is dying of consumption.

Last Exile will suit you with the doomed, tough, angsty Alex Rowe, pirate captain who lost his first love and everything else he had.

Trigun is actually really funny and starts out that way, but as the series progresses, it starts getting darker and darker as the humor bleeds away with a lot of the characters.

Cowboy Bebop also starts out with a good sense of humor, but Spike is one tortured and angsty dude betrayed by a woman. I also love the baddie, Vicious, who used to be best friends with Spike. You've got to love a guy who takes on guns using a sword.

You have definitely got me hooked with those descriptions. I saw the last ep of Bebop (the only ep I saw) and liked it.

Man, I haven't heard of some of these, and now I'm interested too.

Btw, as soon as I finish this paper thing, I'm watching anime with you.
