Daemon Daemon Daemon!!!! I literally shrieked. He is baaaaaack! And, as always, he comes with his own angst machine. I think the realms are held together not by magic, not by Jewels, and not by the laws of physics. I think they are held together by Daemon's angst.
He could hold on. He would hold on. His mind was far more fragile than he allowed anyone to realize. Oh, it was intact. He had lost a few memories, a few small shards of the crystal chalice, but he was whole and he was sane. But the healing would never be complete because he had lost the one person needed to complete it. It hadn't mattered when he had only wanted to stay in one piece long enough to destroy the High Lord. It didn't really matter now. He could survive long enough to see her, just once.
Oh, Daemon. Daemon Daemon Daemon, you break my heart. Also, he is a much better brother than Lucivar deserves because he is all "I won't become my brother's rival" which is a lot more consideration than "I am going to try to drive you mad based on rumors" Lucivar ever showed him. Yes, I have Lucivar issues. I will always have Lucivar issues. Though despite them, this bit made me a little - there is something in my eye: Daemon felt a tremor run through his body and tightened his self-control. Tears stung his eyes. "Lucivar," he whispered. Hooray for brotherly love and reunions and two deadliest men ever weeping on each other's necks.
