Dangermousie's Dozen Most Anticipated Cdramas

Apr 01, 2011 14:53

For some reason, I am more excited by upcoming cdramas than twdramas, kdramas, and jdramas combined. So, behind the cut is a list. The only order is alphabetical.

I am sure you have figured out that out of all dramas, period cdramas are my favorite, so it's not surprising that this list contains so many. But a few modern dramas did sneak in.

List with summaries, vids and pics, behind the cut )

shangri la, the royal harem, bu bu jing xin, xuanyuanjian tianzhi hen, screencaps4, unbeatable, home, youtube4, rainbow sweetheart/my girl remake, legend of tiger amulet, the other shore, modern people, mi wu shuang long, dorama list, emperor's beauties, destiny's concerto, doramas4

The FengMi cover makes me giggle. I wish I was in charge of props for that photoshoot. "Here, let me spray some more of that fake tan on you, FSF. Do you need help rubbing it on?" LOL

I don't mind waiting because the quality is so much better/consistent than with kdramas (not to mention that doing liveshoots for an epic is insane). But yes, I want them all nooooow!

Hu Ge/Ivy - all I keep thinking is Guo Jing and Mob Girl kicking things :)

That Yuan Hong thing looks too yummy for words. Apparently he's a playboy whose family gets murdered and he gets tortured and gets angst and fights opressors and has an OP. And is the lead! OMG WANT WANT WANT. I wouldn't have known about it if not for awesome mookiehyun. No idea when it's out though.

Re: Skip Beat. I never really liked the manga. Didn't dislike it, just was indifferent - too episodic, wacky and not with enough emotion/narrative drive for my tastes (a good example of its subgenre, it's just that subgenre isn't my thing) but I really love the cast so I'd check it out. I thought it was a Taiwanese production though?

Re: Nicky. All he needs to do to be hot is grow the front of his hair out. I don't know how he'd look with Ming Dao-style beard but that mustache makes him look even more like a slightly embarassing uncle your parents don't mention too often.

I'm incredibly tempted to get my hands on a copy of that magazine, just so I can look at that cover for kicks and giggles every so often. :P I can just imagine what my mother would say if she found that mag in my room, though.

LOL and THAT'S his life as an archaeologist? Or is the archaeologist thing only a sideplot/random piece of interesting information? It sounds a bit Indiana Jones-ish from the synopsis. Because dang, I'd give a lot for archaeology to be actually that interesting IRL, LOL. Actually, maybe not quite that interesting; I'm pretty sure I'd be opposed to getting tortured. I'm usually pretty meh about pre-modern period dramas, but this one actually looks good.

Re: Skip Beat, I actually really liked the manga! At least for the first 13 volumes or so, precisely beause it was cheerful and wacky, with all the plot cliches that I love. After 13-15 volumes though, Nakamura seems to have more or less forgotten the original plot and decided to write about "Kyoko's random adventures as an actress", so I'm feeling your episodic complaint. I'm dreading Shiwon/Donghae being dubbed already! And yep, it's a Twdrama; I just tend to think about Twdramas and Mainland dramas as "chinese dramas", that's all. :P Not very politically correct, I know.

LOLOL slightly embarassing uncle your parents don't mention too often. They should ban Nicky from ever shaving his hair off - in fact, he should leave it wuxia-long forever. He was ridiculously hot in Treasure Venture. Too bad the guy who dubbed him gave him a raspy mosquito voice.
