I finally got around to checking out the first episode of 49 Days. For whatever reason (my cdrama obsession, mixed reviews etc), I just wasn't in a hurry.
Well, that was a good thing because I loved it to bits and now have four episodes on which to binge all at a go. I like that I have no idea where the story is going, plot-wise or ship-wise. I like all the characters.
The spunky heroine who's stuck in limbo - she's naive but optimistic and likeable. I think Nam Gyuri is doing an OK job btw.
The mysterious and inhuman Scheduler. Oh, Jung Il Woo, you are fast turning into my favorite of the younger crop of actors. Does anyone else think Scheduler used to be the man whose death 5 years ago caused Lee Yo Won to turn into such a suicidal robot? They seem to hint at a connection there but OTOH he doesn't recognize her.
Han Kang is quite quite lovely. Jo Hyun Jae is a hit-and-miss actor for me - if I like a drama, I like him in it, and if not, he can't save it for me. But I like that it looks like he has carried a secret torch for the heroine for a while. Any bets he'll be one of the three people who'll shed 'pure tears' necessary to bring her back?
Also, why any woman who isn't blind would pick Bae Soo Bin over JHJ, I have no idea.
Lee Yo Won hasn't had much to do yet other than look like a zombie, but I am intrigued. And I like the connection between her and Nam Gyuri (she's responsible for the accident that got NGR in tha state) because that makes the body take-over a sort of justice.
So yes, looking forward to finding out the connections, and the secrets and the past and the possible outcomes, romantic and otherwise. Very very good.
And, to conclude on a highly intellectual note, who knew the Angel of Death looked like this, wore leather and rode a motorcycle? :P
