I was really surprised when you were unfair to DG before, but I am happy now. I ship DG/UN as mad and as you know, I think they will end up together (may be just before they die, though). TH is my favourite character in Chuno, but.. DG needs some loving.
This is why I am quite afraid as to how the writers will write TH from this point forward - I thought about it some more (I am going mental here) . I don't see any other way for UN to turn away from TH in her heart (I imagine she will be always faithful) to DG unless TH does something wrong. Even if TH dies (without being bad to her), it won't be the same because seeing what a girl she is she will remember him forever.
I am preparing myself for this , but gosh - this will be the last time I am watching Korean period drama (at least , for a white and , at least - unfinished).
By scouring soompi, I found two bits of information on DG/TH conversation which made me glee.
1. I am quoting a soompier - When DG and TH were resting in the hut, TH asked DG about HW's former status..etc and was still in disbelief that his dearest wife HW was a former slave (and technically still a slave right now), DG said something along the lines, "So what if she's slave (or not)? Does it matter? What's important is that you've given each other your hearts."
Oh Dae Gil. You homicidal, tortured teddy-bear. You still love her like mad. (Apparently it also came out (not to TH) that when he found UN he planned to buy land, marry UN and settle down with her. AWWW).
2. I don't think we should worry about TH's reaction in the long term because apparently they were talking some more and had an exchange that went like this:
DG: the world will never change TH: Someone I know does not like to hear these words.
Clearling meaning UN and fraught with the fact that he still loves her and wants to listen to her.
Ohhhhhhhh! How interesting (I am responding to your both comments in one - and thank you thank you thank you for digging up that conversation. I absolutely had no time as weekends are always purely RL for me but I was so dying to know what it was about
( ... )
That is one incredible conversation (the writer is really good). I do love that while TH is awesome, he is also portrayed as a man of his times - it is clear he will love UN no matter what and will start thinking about social change but it wasn't instinctive/automatic for him - how could it be, he was born in 1600s?
I also loved that conversation because (a) it shows both men as intelligent - and neither one in the wrong and (b) it shows that actually despite the initial impression, DG and TH have a lot in common - under other circumstances I could see them getting along well. And it makes it pretty clear that they are going to join forces as soon as the misunderstanding about who was actually killing their friends clears up.
Re: Robbers. Nobody dies in the end :) I was shocked but it's a happy ending and all.
Yes, for me it doesn't take shine off Tae Ha if he doesn't change his beliefs immediately, especially with that Confucianism thing (Thank you! to the awesome translator). TH has Confucianism beliefs and these things aren't easy to drop.
Yes, both men are so good together - I think it was just about time for someone to say "Stop doing what you are doing and get back to changing the world, if your convictions lie this way" to DG. I imagine them having their love/hate relationship and keep bouncing off each otehr if they join the forces. YAY! This drama has come up one level.
BTW, I can't get rid of the conviction that the newcomer guy is Prince Bongrim incognito.
Found translation of the entire conversation in the shed thanks to the awesome inappropriatecrushes on soompi. I am just copy/pasting directly, her comments and all:
