Have a happy scene courtesy of a previous episode. Because there aren't any here.
My God.
By the end of this ep, I'd say Hyun Joon reached his breaking point except I know there's worse to come and further down to go.
Perhaps when every appearance of his results in my automatic yelling at my monitor like a crazy person "die die die I hate you die", it's time to officially declare I hate Sawoo. I am pretty impressed with JJH - he went from one of my favorite fictional men ever in Last Scandal to a guy where I want to stick a fork in his face and twist. I mean, who the HELL goes after his best friend like this, orders or no orders. He doesn't have to put his life on the line to rescue him, hell, he doesn't even have to do anything and the North Koreans have a good chance of getting him. But noooo, he has to go out and add his bit. WTF? I do not buy the whole "otherwise Seung Hee would be ordered to". So what? Seung Hee would refuse and so what - Sawoo didn't act as if his own earlier refusal to carry out the mission would get him killed so (he should believe) she wouldn't face being offed either. After all, he doesn't know Vice Director is spawn of satan and NSS is illegitimate. Or what - he is worried Seung Hee's career would be ruined or something if she refuses? So that's worth killing your best friend for? W-T-F. Not to mention that he could have accepted the mission and then just not done his best. Precious Seung Hee would be protected just fine in that regard. So go die in a fire, traitor!
Poor Hyun Joon. I want to tell him everything would be OK but I know it won't. His whole world has been destroyed - he is hunted and on the run, erased out of existence as if he's never been, betrayed by his agency for no reason he can see. His best friend comes to kill him and the one person who stood by him, Seung Hee, the woman he loves, is killed in front of his eyes, because of him. (Or so he believes). My God.
The funny thing is, while I adored the big shippy hug - OMG:
It's the little shippy moments that got me - him seeing her in the rearveiw mirror or the intercut between wounded, borderline delirious, hiding and at the end of his rope Hyun Joon and Seung Hee pacing back and forth.
But OMG his face when he sees the car with Seung Hee blown up. I love how everything goes silent and he just turns into a zombie.
It's OK, honey, she's alive, I promise! (I literally yelled that at the screen at that moment - clearly my sanity is going).
Lee Byung Hun is amazing in this drama! (It's official, as of this ep, Hyun Joon is my favorite character this year - tormented almost beyond endurance and tough as nails at the same time. OMGOMGOMG).
I love the NK chief spook and lady spy. They are freaking awesome.
Oh, and in conclusion - NSS should be burned down to the ground, please.
