They should have just gotten Frankenstein to star...

I am still dling IRIS and JIN and Next Stop Happiness has only 2 parts of ep 6 subbed (never fear, I watched them) so I decided to check out Hi My Sweetheart.

*shudder*

The horror the horror!

The unfortunate hero of this drama is welcome to be anybody's sweetheart, I suppose, but how he doesn't get dogs set on him in the street is a mystery. His face can stop clocks and give miscarriages to pregnant women. The fact that his personality makes an average dweeb seem cooler than James Dean is not helping either.

I have never, in all my years of drama watching, have seen a leading man so horrifically, appallingly repulsive-looking. I have never seen anything even approaching it. Show Luo, the actor, is an attractive man, and the amount of effort the makers have spent making him look like a fat, greasy, slightly-retarded mushroom is commendable but puzzling.

WHY?

Yes, I know, eventually, under weight of disappointment of being rejected by Rainie Yang, he will turn into a smokin-hot and cool dude but there is no way I, or anyone else I can imagine, would be willing to sit literally through episodes and episodes of disgusting, snail-like gnome to get to that point. Seriously? What the hell were they thinking.

I generally prefer more serious or off-beat twdramas to funny ones because I find the humor completely over-the-top but there have been exceptions through the years. Alas, with a human gargoyle as a male lead, there is no chance this will join the ranks.

I am indifferent to Show Luo one way or another but Rainie, darling, what are you doing in this? Oh well, if this horror is trade-back for the utter perfection of To Get Her, I can deal with this.

To cleanse the palate, TGH mv:
