Child services in Korea must be always overburdened!

I have finished episode 3 of City Hall and oh boy, Jo Guk's family is uniformly wonderful.

First off, we have Daddy (referred to as a Sith Lord by Samsooki in his dramabeans recaps):

In addition to ditching hero (his illegimate kid) and hero's mother on the streets of a random town (and giving them some cash, woo-hoo) when hero was a kid, now he is using hero as a political pawn and treating him as dirt. I'd say he is being awfully cruel but he doesn't really get emotions so cannot say that.

We have Fiancee - it's pretty clear it's arranged and she does not care tuppence for him. Yeah, that's a wonderful come-on line! Who doesn't want a girl to tell them she couldn't care less about him but her Daddy told her to sleep with him because it would politically expedient. Whoopie!

And we have Mommy! I can see why Daddy was drawn to her - they can play icicles together. Here is she snapping and slamming the door in hero's face when he comments something to the effect that he is surprised to see her this evening as he was expecting her in the morning.

I wonder Jo Gook doesn't have a permanent case of frostbite with a family like this. But luckily, instead of frozen-off toes which are unappealing, he most appealingly broods like this:

I totally ship him and Mi Rae because he actually acts human and relaxed around her which is a total novelty (Mi Rae is kinda awesome btw - hard-drinker, knows what she wants, but cooky and fun).

Mmmmm, high-status but broken men and no-nonsense fun ladies who fix them. Kdrama, so kind of you to cater to me!
